My friends were all from different sects and religions we had no issues whatsoever. It's a naive and intellectually dishonest perspective. Assad was a most brutal ruler; the CIA sent people to Syria to disappear them. Where's the condemnation of the prisons that tortured, raped and murdered citizens, including women and children? US/IsFail always take advantage wherever they go; it doesn't negate reality. Before Assad's fall, IsFail was only bombing Irananian backed sites because they had nothing to fear from Assad's military, but now they're bombing the Syrian military because IsFail fear it will be used against them now.

I have yet to see any actual evidence that Jolani/HTS is takfiri. I have seen plenty of evidence that they are not. There is basically a meme of a young woman who was "forced" to cover when photographed with Jolani. The narrative is that this shows HTS intolerance. Her own story is a much different one.

Events in Syria are not about democracy or human rights, it's about US, UK, Turkish, Israeli interests and the Qatar–Turkey gas pipeline project.

Didn't about 150K Syrian soldiers die during the multi-year war in Syria? Wasn't much of the country was reduced to rubble? Didn't the US occupy the richest oil and agricultural region of 1/3 of Syria since 2019? Didn't the US apply the Ceaser sanctions Act against Syria after 2019? Didn't the US worsen the sanctions with the Assad Anti-Normalization Act in Feb 2023? Yet, some Syrians still blamed Assad? As if the US wasn't involved? We mustn't underestimate the ability of the US CIA (NED and its subsidiaries, IRI etc) In the last Arab league summit Assad attended he emphasized the importance of standing up for the Palestinians. This is even more reason for the US to work covertly against Assad.

Finally!! Addressing some of the grievances and trauma of Syrians! Heading in the right direction!

It was great hearing Bassam being interviewed. So far I've only seen him as the interviewer. And, yes I've been thinking the same thing = that 2 things can be true at the same time: 1. celebrate Syrians being free of the Assad regime and 2. what may come down the line may be more destabilizing (bombing & land grab by Israel) and harder for religious minorities (we'll need to wait and see).
