That's actually so cool. I can see this being used in the future.

Very good video. We used this method on guitar hero live but we also used touch designer, bolt motion control rig and we recorded the DMX output of the lighting desk so the framestore knew exactly where all our moving lights were pointing and outputting at anytime.
How much does this workflow cost? i.e. BLK360 and cinedesigner purchase costs and what would you charge an end client for doing the pre-vis using this method?

Is it for the Film Industry? Not for the indie filmmakers.
Who needs this much accuracy unless you are going to have a lot of VFX.

Awesome, great video demo! I'm an architect, interested in this device for measuring and documenting existing spaces. What file format comes from the device, could this be opened in rhino 3D or cad.

Ok just found that they are working with autodesk platform. Very cool! Price is still 16K. Interested to see what possibilities there are with this tool between architecture, photography and film.

Thanks for the demo Matt.
We have been using lidar scanning in the film industry for visual effects for a very long time.
This Leica scanner is great, so easy to use and very fast as well.

We've been using lidar in the film industry regularity since the Marix, but for the most part this is through our vendors and not often done in pre-production as we're still in the bidding stage. You make a good case for prioritizing it sooner though, or investing in one as a production company or studio.

how did you export the pointcloud to open it in cinema4d?

i've tried e57, but it just won't work...or did yo import the mesh? if so: how did you proceed the pointcloud into a mesh?

Sick. This is an extremely valuable and relatively straightforward way of preproduction. Love it, will need to invest in Cine Designer!

one question bro. So you import the point cloud into camera4D and model the house from point clouds. Did camera4D make the modeling automatically or one made it ? Thank you

You can achieve the same scan results with an Asus Zenfone AR and Dot3D app or Google Open Constructor app. Phone costs $250 and apps are free.

Liedar is weak, so many missed spots make it too time consuming.
Better use computer vision with 360 cameras, maybe?

It needs a lot of AI to autonomously model objects based on LIDAR and photo data. For example, if AI can determine something is a wall, it would vastly streamline the 3D model conversion from the point cloud. Cleanup of the model would cost less time with the user just confirming or preserving details lost during streamlining.
