Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles were in the Dead Poets Society in 1989, Taylor was born in 1989, and her album is The Tortured Poets Department, her mind is brilliant. You recognized Ethan Hawk didn't you? The tats Taylor had on were Post's tats, but did you notice no tats on Post's in the scene where she says she wants to kill her husband? This song is thought to be about Matty Healy.
ОтветитьThe story behind the video is the real life experience of Clara Bow, a silent film actress in the 1920's (hence the black and white cinematography). While she made the transition to "talkies", she had a bad marriage, and voluntarily went to an asylum for electroshock to try to cope with depression. Electroshock was the fad of the day; and wealthy people would take "rest cures" on their own for different health issues. She was the star of The It Girl (which is where the phrase comes from). Taylor brings up forgotten women from performing arts in her music; the last one was Rebekah Harkness, in The Last Great American Dynasty; she did a call out screen on the Reputation Tour for another woman, Lori Fuller (?) who advocated for artists owning their work back in the 19th century. Our Tortured Poet is something of an historian of Women's Studies and performing arts. 🩷 There is another track on the album titled, "Clara Bow" as well.
