im saving for my Black mat pro 85" But at 6ft8"and 18 stone will it be big enough. My old mat is longer but not as wide or as thick . My yoga instructor raves about hers. So looking forward to getting one

Hi There, I am sure you will enjoy the added width on the Manduka Black Mat PRO. This will hopefully mean you are not spending all your practice with your hands on the floor rather than on the mat :)

Hi There I am sorry to hear that you are finding that your PROlite is not offering you much grip. All Manduka PRO yoga mats require a breaking in period. This happens naturally as you use the mat, or you can speed up the process by scrubbing your mat with a damp cloth and rock salt or by spraying the mat with Manduka Yoga Mat Cleaner, leaving it for 5 mins and then wiping off. You may need to repeat this process a couple of times. I hope this helps.

Please also be aware that the Manduka PRO yoga mats do not absorb sweat and dirt. This is great as it means your yoga mat will not smell, however dirt will sit on top of the mat and eventually make the surface slippery. It is good practice to clean your mat regularly. If you practice Ashtanga yoga, you will always need to use an eQua towel on top of the mat after you have completed the first series, I think you will find this is the case with most yoga mats and an Ashtanga practice.

It's been 3 months of almost everyday practice on this mat and I did the scrub process 2 times a week, but I still slip, therefore this week I ordered an eQua towel standard hoping that will solve the problem. Anyway the mat is really solid and closed cells are great to prevent bacterial infiltration; but if someone want to buy these mats he/she should buy a mat towel as well, in my humble opinion.

I have a Blk mat pro, they are slippery when sweat gets on them, but the plus is they're PVC rubber, which means they're hygenic, they don't hold sweat and develop bacteria/molds like other mats do. BMP's do stink when new, the PVC rubber out gasses, its pretty horrible actually...well mine was for months. Once they loose their smell they're great, except for the fact that they are slippery when they get wet w/sweat, more slippery than others.

So there's your trade off, either you have a mat that stinks, or you have a slippery mat. I'll take a slippery mat anytime. Black mat pro takes about a year to out gas, mine did.

Another thing about my BMPro, I've had it 6 years and its better than new, virtually no wear at all, better than new b/c its not out gassing anymore. Truly a mat that will last a lifetime. A 'cry once' purchase, you'll forget about the cost in a week, its that good. im 6'4"" tall and have the 85", go big if you're over 6 feet tall.

If you ever see a used BMPro for sale jump on it, waaaay better than new, no PVC out gassing smell, they don't wear out.

Hi There Thank you for your comments. I would say that Manduka have resolved the smell of their PRO mats now, they have very little smell when new. I also wonder what sort of yoga you practice. If you practice Ashtanga yoga we would always recommend placing a Manduka eQua yoga towel on your mat at the beginning of the second series. I always have a Manduka Hand Yoga Towel next to my mat for moments when my hands become sweaty. Glad you love your Manduka PRO yoga mat!

Thank you for this video. I'm interested in getting the PRO so I'm checking out reviews. I will say though if you're about selling the best yoga mats you should definitely consider Aurorae "Synergy" Yoga mat which is basically a yoga towel and mat combined. In my humble opinion it is one of the best, if not the best yoga mat around.

Thanks Nicky! The Manduka mats are truly great! Safe and comfortable. I also love the props, tanks and tees! So nice to practice with equipment which is both high quality and sustainably manufactured.

Thanks for sharing! I got the Manduka Pro. I'm 6'2'' and although i wanted the larger 82'' mat, i couldn't justify buying a mat that long so i just went with the 71'' mat.

The prolite comes in a long and wide size now. So larger people can use it. Although there isn't a towel of the same size. It's 78 " x 30" in old money.
