Elite Dangerous Lakon Type 8: Worth the Hype for in Game Credits?

I have one as my miner. Mostly because I wanted a mining ship that looks like that's what it was designed for, rather than using my Python. And it saves me from having to swap the modules out all the time and frees up module storage.

As a space trucker it's awesome. Have two, one for cargo and one for passengers. It made the T7 obsolete.

It's been my go-to mining ship. It definitely looks the part, Plus I've always favored the Large canopy when I'm looking around for those hot rocks.

Could be a nice PVE ship, with 2 large plasma launchers and 4 railguns, all plasma slug

Is more a competitor for the Python mk1 than the Type7. And with 37 mil price tag, it isn't a beginner ship. I really prefer the Type10 for mining and the Type9 for trade, I really don't care trading with the outposts. And I'm not going to pay real money for a ship, maybe for a Panther Clipper if it is really good

Another "feature" of the T8 is that it shows everybody watching the gameplay whether you're playing with reduced shake enabled or not. The cockpit shakes like you're inside a vibrator with reduced shake disabled. :/
Except in VR, where camera shake seems to be completely disabled regardless of reduced shake setting.

Makes a great Tritium hauler and general cargo mover. Not fond of the arms blocking view from the cockpit but it is surprisingly agile.

Hate to admit but I like it more than I should.
It made my medium trader and passenger rescue ship Python obsolete, mainly because of stable SCO which cuts some travel time. I fly it without weapons, while Python was quite packed in case of interdiction, still need to see how fleeing goes.

I have 1 - The Gilgamesh -, it does everything. I have it rigged for Salvage/Exploration/Hauling, even took out a few Expert ship bounties.

I have a size 4 shield on mine. Not because I'm trying to do combat, but because I always bump into stuff. No weapons on the hardpoints. With the Thargoid SCO FSD it gets 25.9 ly per jump and 170 ly range.
With both supercruise assist and docking computer I get 384 cargo.

Honestly I've progressed to the point where I need some way to mass transfer cargo whether it's some type of Mega cargo ship that can carry 1500 to 2,000 tons or if it's some type of service where I can hire the AI to transfer shit tons of cargo for a percentage markup on the purchase, i need some way to boost volume per trip.

I tried a core mining type 8, but the python still reigns surpreme coreminer for me.
Its faster, big part of finding cores.

Already bought one, along with two Python Mk II. Shaping up quite well, in fact.

T8 is my Robigo passenger runner. Very smooth to fly, carries lots of passengers, and looks cool.

totally replaced my non combat jack of all trades, the Python. more versatile and the FSO is a dream, preFSO ships can't compare

I have one. Gave it the most cheesy and fitting name. I'm sure there are many others that have done this. Mine is named The Millennium Falcon.

I love the T8. On one hand it's amazing for a medium sized ship, on the other hand it scratches my Star Wars aesthetic itch (paint job is down to about 50%.)

I have one. Named it Ellen Ripley (I'm sure you'll know why). Agility and cargo capacity aside, I hate the arms blocking half the view, and to me it has the absolute worst boost sound FX in the game. In fact, I think the sound editor might have inadvertently made a mistake, and mixed in the initial boost kick-in sound at the end of the loop, because it sounds like it's boosting again and it throws off my perma-boosting muscle memory.

2/5 stars. Would not recommend.

I really enjoy flying my type 8

I've got myself one for all type mining, I just mine, go to the local station to keep safe looking where to sell and sell the cheap stuff to reduce weight as much as possible before going off to make my plan and jump to several places for more of a profit on each sale without worrying about landing pads as majority is S-M sized pads in jumps under 10 with a fuel scoop.


I enjoy it and I think the balance I've found works for survivability and profiting with speed.
