ОтветитьSelf made monster absolutely sold me when you said “body parts that won’t stay attached” 😂
Also, I don’t think I have read any medical horror and now I’m very intrigued in this sub genre! Will be on a look out
Whoever made the cover for Sugar needs a raise 😍
Curious on She’s always Hungry by Eliza Clark. I loved boy parts but wasn’t a fan of Penance 😬
It comes out October 15, but I think you would like “The Specimen” by Jaima Fixsen. I’m looking forward to reading it! It may fall under your liking for “medical” that you mentioned 🍓
ОтветитьI might need to add Coup de Grace to my list. I haven't heard of this book before but am intrigued now 👀
Okay but Self-Made Monsters sounded like was made for you! ♥ I don't pick up short stories but even that book description is drawing me in!
Added The Demon to my list pronto! My ears perked as soon as I heard Filipino
🍓🍓🍓
hmmm bummer that Barrowbeck is UK release. Can't find anything about US release date :(
ОтветитьI love these videos because I’m trying to get more into horror🧡
Ответить🍓🍓
ОтветитьRest Stop sounds so great. I'm also really looking forward to She's Always Hungry! The UK cover features photography by one of my favorite contemporary artists, Juno Calypso. Check out her work to see more photos from the vintage tub series titled The Honeymoon. One book I'm really looking forward to, which is not mentioned in the video, is American Rapture by C. J. Leede. I loved Maeve Fly and the cover art looks equally awesome.
ОтветитьAwesome list! I'm excited for Coup de Grace, sounds like such a mind trip
ОтветитьKing Lear is by Shakespeare, but you don't need to know anything about it to read Private Rites, which was excellent.
I order a lot of books from Blackwells online, especially when I prefer the UK cover. Shipping is free and it's often cheaper than US sites and stores.
I'm surprised how many of these are on my radar already.
ОтветитьIm very excited for coup de grace! I’m getting in my Nightworms package so I’m going to try and read it soon!🍓
ОтветитьMy copies of The Bog Wife and Coup de Grace turned up early the other week, so I have already read the latter, and I loved it! I read Private Rites and liked it but didn't love it, despite being a fan of all of JA's other work. But I seem to have a minority opinion on that one, so fingers crossed you love it as much as you're hoping. I'm really looking forward to getting to The Bog Wife, then Model Home and Self-Made Monsters, and I hope She's Always Hungry is as good as its cover and synopsis suggests! I've also added a few others from here onto my list... so, thank you!
ОтветитьHave you read The Island of Dr. Moreau ? For a medical experiment book .. I haven't read it yet but it is on my Master TBR.. not sure about The Daughter of Dr Moreau but that might be an interesting spin-off.. don't really remember the synopsis lol
ОтветитьI just read a witchy book set in Appalachia .. generations of a family in a small town.. magic and drama and secrets.. it's called Strange Folk by Alli Dyer. I love the cover.. I wish it had more atmosphere but if you like character-driven stories, this is definitely that. Some dark things are happening.. the synopsis does not really get into all that so there is definitely more going on than I expected. Maybe check it out from your library like I did. 😊
I'm obsessed/fascinated by anything Appalachia. I even watched a bunch of videos.. I need to read more books with that setting.
I have The Bog Wife on my Library TBR.. they bought it because of my purchase request 😄
added Self Made Monsters to my Master TBR!
ОтветитьI'm just going to drop a knowledge bomb on you and say that if you have the premium subscription for Spotify you can get a bunch of horror novels and short story collections on Spotify
Because audio is the way to go for short story collections
I can introduce you to a medical thriller and its author it's called coma by Dr Robin Cook
Robin Cook has done many medical thrillers but I don't know if that's where you want to go with the medical genre there may be some medical horror in Grady hendrix's book paperbacks from hell so if you want to check that out jump Right in
🍓🍓🍓
ОтветитьI've heard of Coup de Grace before. It's such a cool idea. I want to get my hands on that when I can.
Self-Made Monsters and The Fatal Mind also sound great. I like medical horror too.
Speaking as a former theater kid King Lear is one of the prominent works of William Shakespeare about a king and his children I weep for your generation My Sweet Summer child
Didn't they teach you any Shakespeare in your English language arts class?
Idk, if it was Goodreads that forgot to edit or Angela Sylvaine herself. But, wonton is a dumpling, I believe she meant wanton. 😁
ОтветитьI just started The Black Hunger and I’m liking the vibes so far. I’m only like 30 pages in, so it’s too soon to say much more. 🍓
ОтветитьHave you read The surgeon by Tess Gerritsen ? Lots of medical horror
ОтветитьThe fatal mind sounds amazing 👀
ОтветитьHave you read The Loney by Andrew Michael Hurley? As always, thanks for the list. A lot will be going on my Tbr.
ОтветитьAh! So many books to add to my TBR! Also a new Julia Armfield?! Auto buy!!!
Ответить🍓💀
Ответить🍓 New subscribers 👋🏻 loved your video!! I'm looking forward to watching your backlog and new videos to come 😊🖤
Ответить🍓😊
Ответить🍓🍓🍓
Ответить🍓 some fun ones to add to my tbr!
ОтветитьHave you read Black Phone by Joe Hill?! It’s amazing! I wish it was more than 30 pages lol
ОтветитьThanks for another great video! I think self-made monsters wins best cover of this video
🍓🖤🍓
(Thanks again for stating an emoji to put - helps my anxious brain post a comment 💝)
I second the Lakewood by Megan Giddings recommendation and theres also Comemadre by Roque Larraquy (at least the first section) for the medical horror. On my own tbr I have Honeycomb by S.B. Caves which is a medical experiment reality tv show? I have Violent Faculties by Charlene Elsby as well but it sounds more like philosophy experiments so not too sure about that one.
I hadn't heard of And He Shall Appear but it sounds so good to me definitely adding it to my tbr.
🍓
Ответитьyessss love these videos 🍓
ОтветитьI had no idea Nick Cutter was coming out with something new! So thank you for this!!
Also I just read a Richard Chizmar and I was so impressed by the concept so I might have to check out memorials.
🍓🍓🍓💕
I'm honestly getting tired of books on racism. People being victims of one particular group of people. It gets old.
Ответить🍓hi hi
Ответить🍓🍓🍓
ОтветитьIntercepts by TJ Payne is a good one experiments
Ответить🍓
ОтветитьMedical/surgical horror is def something I wish there was more of!
ОтветитьGood titles 🎉
ОтветитьI am very intrigued with She Is Always Hungry and I love the UK cover! There were some other books I plan to check out as well. Thank you for sharing these with us!
ОтветитьI can't wait to read Private Rites! 🍓
Ответить💚🖤🍓 Ok so not much if a horror reader but....the demon sounds good
Ответить🍓
ОтветитьWe Are the Beasts sounds intersting 🍓
