Great episode. Thanks! This is the holy trinity of compact performance cars. Having all 3 would make one incredible dream car garage. With all manuals being replaced with automatics and the push to make everything on 4 wheels electric why do I feel like we are reaching the end of a golden age of enthusiast-focused cars :( With the RS gone we do now have the Hyundai Veloster N to take its place. I am a proud owner of a Honda Civic Type R. Word to the wise, if you like ANY of these types of cars, find a way to get one more sooner than later or be very successful in life so you can get one in the aftermarket after they have appreciated in value.

Only things STi has over them is that all four brake calipers are indeed Brembos, the AWD system is superior, the gauge set up with natural handling, lastly the exhaust note is way better than anything those two can do. Period.
CTR has auto rev matching, better seat positioning/interior, most comfortable while driving and is the fastest in stock.
RS is awesome because it actually looks like a hatchback, has drift mode, and you don’t see too many of them on the street vs the other 2.
I really like all 3, I went with STi. The exhaust note had me sold from day one. However after owning for many years, it’s starting to act up and be a shop queen…. so there’s that.

I daily drove the Type R for over a year. I traded it for a Focus RS. FWD just spun everyday that wasn’t perfectly dry. AWD dominates.

Here, 7 years later, I do sport driving on weekends, so I have a weekend car. I live in Western North Carolina, which is FULL of VERY technical roads, we name them, such as, tail of the dragon, rattler, the snake etc. and those are the crappy roads, there are far better that folks don't know about, so they are clear of morons who don't know how to drive. Unfortunatly, right now, due to Helene, many of these roads are inpassable or destroyed, very sad. I drive with a wide selection of folks with a wide selection of cars, anywhere from minis to 911's. I drive with 2 guys that have type R's, They WILL NOT let me lead anymore, the RS just DESTROYS the Type R on these technical roads, it is NON COMPETITIVE. We use Sena's for communication, and if I lead, within 30 seconds I'm out of range and withing 5 min. I'm 2 miles ahead. As a grocery getter, meh, I guess they're fine, as a strip car, who gives a shit, who would buy any three of these as a drag car?? On HIGHLY technical roads, the RS is VERY hard to beat, I actually sold my C6 corvette because the RS roasted it so badly and bought a F150 for my daily rolling living room with the money... BTW, I'm an elderly guy, and the two guys with R's are much younger, so it's not that they don't know how to drive, I've driven the R's, they're swell on a regular road with some sweepers, get them up here, they just PLOW.
