As you're crawling through Ballora's room, her music drifts in volume. As the room is pitch dark, it's an indicator to the player of how close she is to them.

This same concept was used again in Security Breach with DJ Musicman. During his chase, his music also drifts in volume, the louder it is means the closer he is to catching Gregory.

It's a good idea as in situations where the player can't actually SEE them, it gives a good indication of where they are so the player can focus on the task instead of looking around or behind for whatever is stalking them, wasting otherwise precious time.
