Ferde Grofé (1892-1972): Aviation Suite (1944)

Well...quite like some of his other suites, but won't mind if I don't hear this one again !

There's a newer recording of this with a full orchestra where the Motor City section sounds really astounding.

Anyone know where to get parts for this piece? The librarian at our orchestra has been having trouble locating.

Wonderful. Grofe was the master at composing descriptive suites such as this.

Does anyone know if the full score for this is available anywhere? I do have the sheet music for a piano arrangement, but would like the actual orchestral score.

     I did manage to contact the composer's son about this years ago, and the details are now vague in my mind, but I recall even he couldn't answer this.

     I just wonder if anything has come to light about this more recently. I would appreciate any information anyone could please supply about this. Thanks.

Was this a transfer from an old radio broadcast? I was just rather amazed because I never knew of any recording of this piece other than the one from the 1980s, conducted by Jan Stulen. When is THIS recording from, and who conducted?

Such a whimsical way of depicting a valuable part of our history. I would love to see animation set to this music.

I have a 78 RPM recording of this suite conducted by the composer and autographed by him.
