Losing your mum is so life altering it’s so hard to actually process. No one can ever understand until youve been through it. I often prefer to avoid thinking about it because the thought they’re gone forever is too overwhelming.

I love how good you are at expressing how you feel and how relatable it always is. Thank you for being vulnerable on here, I am sure it helps a lot of persons going through similar things. 🩷 I also love the exercice your acunpuncturist gave you, I will definitely try it too 🎀🤝

i’m still grieving the loss of my dog who passed 4 months ago, he was my child and my everything and i think about him every day and i don’t think i’ll ever get over it, it’s hard to realise they’re gone and not coming back. i know it’s not the same as losing a parent, i have no idea how i would cope or survive if that were to happen, sending you all the love Soph❤

aww girl, my mom passed away 6 years ago when I was 23 and my dad was already out of the picture. Grief is crazy and pops up in weird ways, I feel her the most when I feel like I'm doing something that would make her proud. Your mom is looking down and so proud of everything you've done and how you've grown into a wonderful woman, she's going to be there on your wedding day spiritually. <3

I can really resonate with your chat about grief. I lost my mum when I was 16 and similarly, I didn't process any of these emotions, just went back straight to school and daily life and repressed that grief. Only now can I see how it has affected me, how the emotions got stored in my body, how that repression has put me into freeze state... It's a lot of work to process that and sit still with our feelings, but we can do it 💗 Also, love the festive vibes ! Sending hugs xx

Soph I lost my mum when I was 14 so I 110% understand how you feel. I didn't process it. I think I wanted to feel like a normal kid and not the kid who's mum died.
Flash forward and I'm in my 30s I've lost other family and still not dealt with it and I'm only just realising that maybe I should speak to someone.
I love the idea of letters.❤

Last week was the 10 year anniversary of my grandma passing and it’s just so crazy how quickly time passes. Every year, around that date, I feel like I just get into a funk and sometimes it doesn’t even occur to me the reason until I notice the date and I’m like oh yeah. But grief is definitely not a linear thing, there are some days that it hits so hard, you feel like it just happened and other days, it’s not as consuming. I’m sure the fact that you’re planning your wedding is adding to the grief you’re feeling about your mom. I always think about my grandma when it comes to big events too, even like me moving to another state and just knowing she would’ve loved visiting me. But I also appreciate the grief sometimes because it reminds me of her and our moments and I never want to forget those. Thank you for sharing with us ❤️

My mom died a few months ago (I’m sixteen). I wanted to thank you for talking about your grief, because i’ts nice to know that more people deal with the same things. I think im also gonna try and write letters to my mom with a candle on, that sounds like a great idea to process my emotions better but I also think is going to be very emotional. I would like to give you a big hug because you deserve it!💞✨☺️

My Dad passed when I was 14, which for me is 9 years ago, and I completely understand everything you’re talking about. It feels like initially every mental health issue had to do with grief, even though it might not have been, but when it gets past 5 years it’s easy to forget because it’s been 5 years, that’s ages! But like, it’s not??? And I think when you lose someone when you’re a teenager, adults expect you to handle it in a certain way, and for me when I was “mature” about it I was praised for it, so I just kept handling my emotions and pushing down actually grieving my Dad because I was getting compliments for handling everything so well, and taking care of my Mum, and so on and so on. Sorry a ramble, but essentially I’m with you, and it’s so hard to navigate but you are doing well, and you are not alone. Thank you for reminding me I’m not either 🫶

i also lost one of my parents when i was really young and it’s just so weird. i think that because i was so young i didn’t have the “capacity” to deal with it so i hid it? and i didn’t even feel the loss until some years later, i thought i was over it, until suddenly it hit me. i love that you talked about this❤

Omg acupuncture and therapy in one?! So good! 😅 I really appreciated that little chat Soph ❤ My mum passed away this year and I feel like I have a very similar personality to you and have probably done the same sort of thing just distracting myself with positive stuff. I really love that letter writing and candle idea and might just steal that for myself too. I know there will be times that are harder than others and you going through all this wedding planning without your mum has got to be really tough (something I am quite terrified to do in future tbh) and bringing up so many feelings and I just want to say you’re so strong and I’m here if you ever need a random person to talk to 😅🤍
