Is this tutorial still valid?
Because I applied the instructions to the letter, but on different versions of Blender (2.93LTS) and Unreal Engine (4.27.2).
For exporting and importing Alembic and creating Bininding there were no problems.
But when I enable physics (Enable Simulation in the Alembic asset) the hairs interpenetrates with each other and with the mannequin, stretching and losing their initial shape.
This only happens when the mannequin walks or runs.
Any ideas?
I found this thread where a guy has the same problem and I replied with a video to show my error

not sure what i'm doing wrong, but when i go to select sections i want to spawn hair, it does not select most points. there are whole points on my scalp that the box tool or circle tool will not select. most of the head will not turn orange. what am i doing wrong here!!! haha so frustrating...

ОтветитьMy grooms act very weird with motion blur. Almost like they just take the motion vectors of the ground behind them. Anyone else have issue with this?
ОтветитьAwesome video. So well explained too. Can I ask, do u have any experience grooming feathers. I have a project that requires a bird in unreal and apart from the meerkat demo haven’t really seen much info on feathers. If u have any tips I’d much appreciate it
ОтветитьCool tutorial, but the title should be "Create Hair in Blender for Unreal Engine", because you are not creating them inside the engine..

Does it still work in UE5 tho?
My hair seems to just be gigantic when I set the scale to 100. It looks normal when I set it to 1 but then it just glitches out and flies everywhere. What am i doing wrong?

ОтветитьI really wanna cry. I spent all day to try do this in UE4 and UE5. Nothings work for me. I feel so upset even i need done my personal project using Blender hair in UE T_T When I exporting alembic in UE i see another window.

Ответить10/10. Though following along on UE5.2 (must have been some changes) I had to manually selected alembic hair file when i was importing under the types of files it's looking for to get the groom plugin to read it as hair, otherwise it was just importing the object.

ОтветитьYou saved me, I've been looking for hours but didn't realize you have to turn "show emitter" off. it would just import as alembics file, not as groom.

Ответитьwhen ı use new Blender 4.02 hair groom and I export to UE5 as Alembic. My hair groom doesnt work and e recive Error. How ı solve this problem. Because ı want to use new Blenders hair features. Thanks.
ОтветитьOnly problem is all the hairs are the same length giving it that spikey look. If your doing some long hair you want the front hair's going right over the head long and hairs at the back of the head to be shorter so they reach the same length. There seems no way to do this in blender. It needs custom guides as otherwise it looks more like fur than hair.
