This reminds me of Jose doing this in one of his shows. But he took of his shit and shorts before jumping in the water to fight the fish. That was a great job at fighting that Snook.

I can't believe that reel survived that. I immediately thought it was toast, and I am fond of that particular reel. I've caught some big fish with it.

Hey CA I wanted to find out where to find that particular model 7' rod as yours says 1/2- 2 OZ 20-40 lb on the rod and for the same ROD number and line weight looking online I can only find it going up to 1 OZ. Love your channel!

If you weren't sponsored by Shimano no person in their right mind would dunk a $500 reel for a snook. It's water resistant but you can't swim like that and fish expecting the reel to be fine. In a week that reel won't be as smooth anymore.

I love my shimano and penn reels, both companies have very reasonable cost service. After about 2 years of medium/heavy saltwater fishing I'll mail out my reels. Each company strips it and cleans and replaces any worn parts within about 30 days. Keeps all my reels running like they are brand new.

The bail wire is pathetically tiny

CA that reel is 500 dollars. Seriously? My daiwa BG will do anything that reel will. Maybe not as light but it's very trustworthy

Just checked, my xd is 6 years old and has been through it all. Still smooth, and all I do is rinse it.

Toughest inshore reel is Daiwa Morethan Branzino without a doubt.

Great video….lot’s of info. I don’t know if I’d have the courage to drown a reel like that, but wonderful to see it hold up that well. Love Shimano reels and have always had enormous respect for the range Twin Power reels ie. FD, XD and SW👍

Starting from the new Ultegra all the way to the twin power xd and vanquish have the same main gear and pinions.
So in my opinion the new ultegra is as good as the TP xd if you dont need the extra bells and whistles.
I was using the Sutain 21 cuz for me its one of the best looking reel in shimano but after i caught a 16 LB grouper the reel lost its smoothness and started to act very rough.
I was very disappointed because the c5000 size has the ability to handle 24lbs of drag.
When i started to look for parts I couldn’t find at all and after few days of research i found out that the gears of 300$ Sustain is the same as the gears is 120$ ultegra or 150$ Stradic 🤦‍♂️

I found the Xprotect on my vanford to be very effective. It had been dunked twice accidently and it was cleaned and rinsed thoroughly. Bearings and gears still feel like new. Thinking of upgrading to the XD, or the FD.

Did they discontinue the xx models?
