He also set the standard for developers who should be talking about how they implement such a feature.
ОтветитьThis is rich, the guy who is known for trying to manipulate the matchmaking system by blocking any players who beat him (so that he won't have to go up against them in the future) is complaining about how Microsoft is manipulating his matchmaking.
ОтветитьI'll introduce you all to a little thing called, "I never stopped playing Titanfall 2"
ОтветитьEven Splatoon 3 on Nintendo Switch, I think, has SBMM. It's no fun. You can have SBMM in a ranked mode, but shouldn't for every damn mode.
Ответитьthis is absolute trash content. you're cherry picking clips and putting words into his mouth. You're not also acknowledging the FACT that this is coming from someone who is actively advertising for a competitor to the FPS games he's talking trash about. That in itself is something to point out, but you're not. You're just here pushing a game because you're being encouraged to.
Ответить"you are being manipulated"
"come play my game that doesnt have this thing others games might have"
lmao
This is why I quit FPS
ОтветитьWell how are you supposed to know what you can do in the game, if you never play the best players.
ОтветитьI had no idea games did this, thats actually disgusting. I stopped playing cod because it's just not fun, but wow this is next level fuckery
ОтветитьMy dad would always say to me "when are you going to quit those stupid games" circa 2014.. little did I know that by then, the death of well made AAA shooters was already beginning.. BF4, BO2, CSGO, the last of the truly good games before they were ruined with Games as a Service BS, mtx, skins, and P2W.
I think the last game I really fell in love with was PUBG, and even that was riddled with incompetence. That level of originality would never of come from a AAA studio.
Even my favourite racing game, Gran Turismo, I've been playing since I was 3 years old, ruined by this garbage industry trend.
Well I quit the games dad.. 24 now, would love to immerse myself in another one, I've been dabbling with XDefiant and will play purely because they had the guts to stick it to shitty corporate execs for once. Its definitely nowhere near as polished as COD, the movement isn't there yet but ill take not great movement and NO SBMM any day of the week, lets go!
Lol wtf is this a sponsored xdefiant ad? 🤣
ОтветитьSo just play bad purposely and mess up the algorithm
ОтветитьWait hold on. So this means the few times i do win it's because i was scheduled to?
Meaning in the old system I'd simply lose all the time 😢
A little ironic that this is "engagement based matchmaking" yet literally made me quit playing PVP lol.
ОтветитьIt’s a very tough dynamic.
In a perfect world for me, every game would have a ranked playlist to grind in a competitive setting against evenly matched players, giving you the ability to rise or fall. + A quick play system where no matchmaking algorithm is used at all.
Unfortunately games have to be catered for casual players to keep them buying games, so you have to create a system that insulates them from destruction.
Im not surprised. Thankfully not affected because I've been avoiding anything made by the AAA scumbags for years(except fromsoftware, praise miyazaki) I have actually good games to play instead.
ОтветитьThis is confusing as what Max was saying seems to contradict what you want? The variation he was talking about could be considered as manipulation?
ОтветитьAlways remember that if it's free, YOU are the product.
ОтветитьHow about TRULY Randomizing the gaming like it was with the 1st Halo game, you join a game without the System deciding anything FOR you after YOU pick the map and gametype YOU want. Letting the A.I. choose for you will always end as it has... it chooses FOR you and uses IT'S assigned methods to do so. Why are you surprised that giving Choice over to the computer leads to, TaDaaa, the computer choosing FOR you ? Either stop that entirely or you WILL be in this same predicament again.
ОтветитьI feel like this is why you now have to match an entirely new lobby every game instead of staying with the same lobby
ОтветитьYou guys are legitimately stupid if you think you dont want SBMM in games. Anyone that has played any game before 2010 will know that new players will never pick up new games if there is no SBMM unless they are the type to push through. If you want to play a game where the SBMM literally cant do its job anymore, go play Titanfall 2 (IMO the best FPS ever made) and see how quickly you alt f4 that shit. You wont get a kill for 100 games. There are no noobs that play that game.
ОтветитьI mostly quit with pvp fps games because of this. The last real pvp fps I played was halo infinite. I played fron release until season 2. Managed to get to onyx in S1 but it was purely frustrating. The Sbmm was ridicolous and the bugs/desync destroyed every hope.
It really made me angry. I had almost zero fun. It was actually the opposite, it made me mad. After spending 9 hours with work the day, you dont want to play such a game.
It burned me out and I lost any motivation to play any pvp fps.
Today I only play singlepayer games, mmos or recently started with division 2. Sometimes just for nostalgia I play an evening on some good old bf4 servers. Thats always fun and relaxing.
But this sweatfest? Hell no. Not anymore.
Works for me. 🤷♂️
ОтветитьPro players have low win rates because they are using vpn to get into low level lobbies.
Even if they drop 85 kills, they still have 2 or 3 timmy no thumbs on their squad that will ultimately end in a loss.
Think about it.
People, please realize that this is happening in every industry, not just gaming. They want you frustrated because you purchase upgrades when frustrated. This is why loading times are so inconsistent.
ОтветитьDid this come as news to, well, anyone?
ОтветитьPlay stupid games, win stupid prizes. Do you feel like a hero yet?
ОтветитьI feel like you're flying back and forth between criticizing basic SBMM, where the system just tries to make even matches, and Engagement Based Matchmaking. Basic SBMM is a reasonable choice for match making that people can debate. Engagement style is manipulative and shady. Your points would be clearer if you focused on one or the other.
ОтветитьI have an idea for a system. Block a person, you don't get matchmade with them. But also the more accounts block an individual, the less that person gets matchmade with anyone. Yeah it can be abused but it might solve the hacker issue. I'm against banning people.
But something more realistic is list matchmaking. One of my dream games is a loadout heavy pvp game. Some skills would be meta so you can blacklist them. See skills you enjoy fighting against? You can whitelist them. Just like you can promote a player so you can be matchmade with them more. (Until they block you)
I called it when agressive SBMM came onto the scene. I was only like 16 at the time. Overnight all of my favorite shooters became completely boring and even frustrating, as a revved up 16 year old at my peak. I was being put into the CRAZIEST sweat lobbies just to dominate what i assume were children after i lost so many times. Its a joke
ОтветитьI know people who have gotten into cod for the first time, post SBMM takeover. Theyre having a BLAST...because they suck....theyre getting matched with what are as close to bots as you get. The real reason theyre manipulating lobbies like this is to bring in new players and make those new players stay, by basically handicapping them. They'll never get as good as those of us who played bedore SBMM. Imagine being artificially skill capped. YIKES
ОтветитьAs someone who used to clap major ass in high school, it did feel weird jumping into modern games and just instantly being beamed after a few calibration matches.
I remember it used to be balanced, sure I was great, but I'd still occasionally have players test my skills and limits.
It was basically like having a 1v1 with another skilled player while you can run around cleaning up trash until you find your rival again.
Then adapting to their loadout and countering their play.
That doesn't seem to exist anymore.
They are using artificial intelligence for evil when they could be using it for good. Here’s an idea for a good AI system: AI training system implemented at the firing range outside of the lobby, which will help you improve your skill level. An advanced version of this would be for the AI to watch your gameplay, as it already is, and to tailor the firing range AI training to work on areas lacking in performance in game.
Results:
-A more skillful player base
-Making improving your skills easier
-simulates real warfare training
-revolutionizes the industry for the better
-completely optional, you don’t have to use the firing range if you don’t want to.
I noticed this myself. As much as I hated the OG MW2 splitting the party, at least the matches were better balanced than now.
I haven't played Halo in awhile because of this, and I just all together stopped playing CoD online.
i figured this out during destiny and destiny 2, hence why i no longer play pvp games.
ОтветитьI mean current SBMM does often feel bad, but don't go rushing to Ubi for the answer. They trivialized the ranks in R6S to where they are now meaningless, and you know they are still keep a relative skill level metric in the background for XDefiant, and probably still applying, perhaps just less so. Don't mistake their laziness for genius. Plus while I'd hope to say I fall in the camp of those at least generally above average at games, not everyone is, and SBMM in theory was made to protect those who are not so great at games and want to have fun, and that leveling of the playing field has disrupted the fun for others. I never hear in these videos people saying "I hate that I never get a game where we get destroyed" though the opposite is said many times. Its not fun to lose, but if someone wins then someone has to lose. The issue now is the players. XDefiant is no better than CoD or Halo in terms of how frustrating it can feel to play some games, and is quickly devolving into its own meta way to play thats just annoying (bunny hopping around corners with smgs), this is just modern multiplayer I guess.
ОтветитьI'm glad to have put aside competitive gaming. It's been 7 years since I've been on a team. I miss it, but I could never go back to such a lifestyle. It's been an absolute milkfest on the consumers. And streamers have only made it worse.
ОтветитьKinda wish more modern shooters would go back to the server based games or at least have it as an option. Finding a server you love and getting the know the community there can be real fun!
ОтветитьLast cod I played was Cold War, any time I won a land slide victory I shut the game off, I caught on that every time I REALLY won I’d lose the next 3 matches
ОтветитьYou guys realized that only now? World of tanks and war thunder have been doing the same shit since forever
ОтветитьEvery time I play r6 with my friend who is better than me I can see this system messing with our outcomes. It makes the game so stale. I feel like I have no control over the outcome of the game half the time because it was decided that I was going to win or lose.
ОтветитьWhat I hate is the fact that lobbies are dissolved after every match. You'll be talking to a guy and be like, "wow, it's like when gaming was social!" and then the games over and you never talk to the man again.
ОтветитьNothing wrong with SBMM. Games should match you with other players around your skill bracket if theyre going to have a matchmaking system. This is simply complicated by the fact that, on a metric level, it isn't ideal for player retention. People don't want to have to try to win every match, they'll tell that to you themselves. That's the actual problem, and in EOMM's trying to resolve it, it makes it worse.
ОтветитьDoes anyone know if destiny 2 has eomm, I'm sure it's eomm like cod has, I've had games where we are ahead of the other team in control mode and all of a sudden my teammates just seem to let off the gas and the other team just passes points and wins loll
ОтветитьCodm does this
ОтветитьCompletely deflating. One method not mentioned is intentional lag. Imagine a 1 v 1 and every time there is a contested moment you experience split second lag. A.I. makes me want to read books... old books.
ОтветитьIve been saying for years, and years they just want us in meatgrinder arenas so they dont have to make content and just sell you skins
ОтветитьWait you only just realised PVP is designed to manipulate and fuck you over? I knew it for years, why i seldom play PVP games or play the PvE side of things. You have to REALLY provide a concept that takes my interest. And even more effort to kick me away. The "communities" are often just scum and not worth the headache and stress.
Ответитьeomm is JEWISH
ОтветитьEngagement Optimised Matchmaking is a plague.
Ответить
