Unless you get some kind of pest animal that eats rice in the bag, I’d get the lifetime supply so I never have to leave the house for rice again

The reason the big bag is cheap is something called enriched wheat 🌾 It’s really bad for you.

Lifetime supply (only for cheep food that doesn't spoil easily). You never know when the Zombie Apoca is coming. When you want to get rid of stuff, find a good recipe and feed your friends. Buy new supplies, and let the cycle begin. That's what some do

That depends: Do you have the extra $4? Is it the same rice, for all rices are not created equal, or is it at least a rice you like and will nevertheless use? Do you have the extra $4? Do you have the storage space? Do you want a large quantity of pest bait hanging out in your cupboard indefinitely for pests to raise generations on as you fail to notice because you hardly ever use it given how long you say it'll last? Will it still be cheaper if and when you have to throw it away because it becomes infested with rice weevils or because rats or mice get into it at some point over that long duration? Or do you want to spend even more money investing in pest-proof storage containers? Do you want to be lugging around a lifetime supply of rice and/or its special pest-proof storage container for the rest of your life? Do you even want to be lugging that big, heavy bag of rice home, especially on a bike, scooter, walking, etc., or even can you? Etc., etc.

There are many factors to consider. It's not the idiot-proof decision you make it out to be but is actually an idiot trap.
