How representative of the rest of Russia is this?
Would I be right in thinking no services are provided due to corruption or is it just lack of money?

Normalization of deviance sure is a thing.
And people adapt to anything.
I guess they also know that it can always get worse, so why not maintain the situation.

Yet Russia has lots of money for weapons and armies; this is the state of America, too, with garages all over the streets and the homeless amount claimed in numbers by the MONTH, not year.

This should make us think about the causes of this mess. I was few times in Pakistan. I could not unsee the trash laying around in the streets and garbage landfields here and there. When I wanted go to the Bazar, I had to go through tide roads, where no cars would pass, but so much trash that I had to lift my dress a bit and step over the trash. It annoyed me. But I noticed that my husbands family had a strange behavior around trash. I mean they all just thrown rappers on the ground of their jard and even in the rooms. They brushed the home and jard every morning, and I did it too when I was there. In no way I wanted to be treated like a princess, just because I am from Germany. But I have a different mindset about cleanliness, so I started to Pic up the rappers when ever I saw one and bring it to the dustbin. I did it constantly and they noticed it. My father in law once thrown a rapper in front of my eyes and I looked at him, he looked at me and then he picked up the rapper and thrown it to the dustbin. I think he felt ashamed, because he knew, I will pic it up. Slowly the jard was not so much durty during the day. It was an improvement. Then once I decided after brushing the jard to go outside the house and clean the road in front of the house. My sister in law got mad at me and jelled at me, what am I doing. But I anyway finished the cleaning. She jelled, because she was ashamed that ppl would see me cleaning. A white woman, a farener, comes to them and clean their street. I didn't care. I just wanted to have it clean around me, that's it. You can't believe what happened next. Few days later I wanted go to the market and first I didn't pay attention, but something seem off. Then it hit me. Wow, no trash! All the roads that I passed were fresh brushed. I didn't need to step over trash! I think some ppl have seen me cleaning the street, and they don't have many farener, so they clearly saw that I am not Pakistani. Maybe they felt ashamed.
So yes, ppl get ashamed when you show them their mistakes and we should be careful how we do that. I think the best way is, when you yourself show them a good example.
It's a mindset where they are stuck. And because everybody is living like that, they are used to. It became part of culture. They need ppl from outside, who show them something different, who interrupt their known world and make them think.
I don't blame the government. Never we should blame, but take responsibility. It's the ppl who make trash, they should care how to get rid of it. They should discuss it in their community and do volunteer work.
I live in Germany in a small city of Aschaffenburg. My house and neighbor houses live families with kids and the walk way was also dirty. We pay for trash collection, but we have to brush the walkways in front of our houses ourselves and the jard of course, turn by turn. So what I am doing regularly, even if it's not my turn, I play a game with the kids, my and neighbors kids. I give them gloves and dust bins and send them off to pickup the trash and they love it. I say, you my dears are the ambassadors of the clean environment! They feel so proud and compete with each other who has picked up more trash. I teach the neighbor kids also to not throw rappers on the ground. I have put dust bins in a distance of one room from each other, so that they don't have to walk much to put it in dust bin. And if I see anyway some rappers, I am not silent, but ask the kids, who did it. We can train the ppl a better behavior around tge topic of cleanliness, but it needs some ppl who take on the task to teach them, show them, angage them. The sense of community needs to be strengthened. So that ppl do volunteer work for the well being of their community. Sorry it's too long, but I had the feeling that I have something valuable to say about this topic that may help to understand the problem and no, I am not about complaints, I wanted shed light and give some solutions.
Greatings to all. Much love and peace.

I hope the people at least have centralized water system because I sure that the underground water basins are already polluted as hell. How things can get so low without nobody noticing?
With all of the shitty aspects of the CCCP i am sure that it wasn't like this then. How things can be allowed to get so low? Why the city finds it so hard to bring a trash truck at least once a week or so? This is simply insane.

Honestly the "so what I live in garbage?" attitude is just like standard Russian philosophy, and it's why they're all subservient to the tsar. It was the same in arkangelsk with all the green water and decaying buildings

A great shame, since recently most former Soviet cities were spotlessly clean. If no one is disposing of trash, it is better to burn it on your stoves and at least enjoy some heat in the bitter winter months.

This is how a crumbling city looks like! This video should be shared to all those who elects far-right russophile parties at the EU elections next year. And also this should also be shared to all Trump supporters that loves so much Russia! And all the Z Westerners must watch this video! This should open their eyes about the Real Russia, not the Fake Russia portrayed by Russian Propaganda by solely portraying Moscow and St. Petersburg as "Conservative and Free Speech Paradises". I never saw this kind of city in my entire life here in Europe (only in Romania before entering the EU). The EU and the US are the forces of good! Russia is the force of the EVIL!

In my opinion, there is no excuse for living in such a dump! everyone should stop pointing fingers at others and get TOGETHER and remedy the situation. That place looks so depressing, grey, and barren except for all the garbage! I see total disregard. laziness and lack of education as to what is a toxic environment and its health consequences, another thing that I noticed is the containers for garbage, maybe they don't pick up the loose garbage, in our state of CI, USA the garbage must be properly bagged and whatever is not will stay until someone, usually the person who owns it, will pick it up, which is almost a matter of an hour or so. Hopefully, something will be done about it and put an end to that big issue for the quality of living and health's sake!

The prosecutor's office demands that a criminal case be opened against Ilya Varlamov (recognized as a foreign agent).
According to the prosecutor's office, 40-year-old Varlamov, recognized as a foreign agent, was brought to administrative responsibility twice during the year for violating the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent, but continued to distribute materials without indicating that they were created by a foreign agent.

it's a shame the two most insightful interviews (in my opinion) were at the end and were probably less seen.

the man describing the everpresenece of the gang culture is very succinct and can be generalized to many overlooked community ecosystems.

the last interviewee leads with what is probably the overarching sentiment of these folk: shame that this faulty system they've inherited is somehow reflected in them while being powerless to bring about actual change.

i hope this video has changed their lives for the better a bit, thanks for recording
