When a pencil lead is heated up that much, its texture becomes nearly unusable. Just my personal experience, the one you salvaged might be a different variety.

I know this comment is very outdated, but there lies a big issue in this video so I leave this here. You know, in old days, they used to use lead (I mean the metal lead) as their writing material. This leaves a trace until today. Think about this, you call the lead a 'lead', but in fact, it is a graphite clay, not lead. So, if you meant to make a full-metal pencil, then the lead had to be real lead, the metal one. Dunno if you made it again within past 2 years, but it just came up to my feed today, so.... cheers!

Those annoying cheap wexford pencils where the lead isn't even CENTERED so trying to sharpen it just shatters the lead internally leading to a waste of a pencil...
