There is an open-source project based on apple's find my network called openhaystack which allows anyone to create their own "airtag" for only a few $
ОтветитьEvery time i have lost my phone find my device has been useless and i keep my location and mobile data and Bluetooth on all the time so it sure had the best chance, all these people in the comments like "another way for Google to track us" try using it and get back to me. I live in inner city London btw before you start any of that you know like one of the most densely populated area in England.
ОтветитьI must've been living under a rock... People are spending $70-80 because they forget where they put their keys??
Ответитьhey @MentalOutlaw you do realize that Google's find my device thing has been around for years, right? in fact, this is nothing new
Ответить"Samsung has been working on their own version..."
Samsung phones have had access to Samsung's findmymobile service for over a decade. I'd imagine it takes about 2 seconds of research to figure that out!
If you want a cheap Airtag without UWB directional functionality AliExpress is full of $7-$10 trackers that work seamlessly with Apple's "find my" service. And yeah, they are ready to be attached to anything out of the box.
ОтветитьGoogle always had a find my device feature tho
ОтветитьCan it be used on ios to find galaxy buds?
ОтветитьDidnt google had this for smartphones for over 8 years now?
ОтветитьThey just won't leave us be and stop inventing ways to track us which are often obligated to agree with in order to use the device .
ОтветитьIs it gimped if you install GrapheneOS or does it still run with some low level firmware code?
ОтветитьI have been occasionally using googles ‘find my device’ for years now. I didn’t realize it was newish.
ОтветитьTime to build my own phone
ОтветитьI'm confused. Android has had a "find my device" feature for ages?
ОтветитьWho has Kali Linux on SmartPhone?
ОтветитьHi, could you bring back LPOL with osu lazer? It s a FOSS game with great community support. You should try it.
ОтветитьCan you make a video about DuckDuckGo Privacy Pro pls
ОтветитьMan it’s going to be a nightmare trying to find products that support Android’s Find My vs Apple’s FindMy. What morons decided to name it the exact same search term?
ОтветитьIt seems like this is something Google made in collaboration with Apple.
Ответитьъ.Ъ
ОтветитьEventually we will have no competition if everyone is being forced to work with each other 😂
ОтветитьIs it forced on users? Do I have this tracking being pushed on me if my Pixel 8 Pro is running GrapheneOS?
ОтветитьIt works while the battery is DEAD. . . " So you are saying the battery isn't actually dead. You just report it dead so the user can charge it, BUT you also can retrieve location data and run a service if needed "
ОтветитьSaying that the samsung things are "better" gave away that u dont know what u talking about xd. Every review of the samsungs things says that they are tr4sh.
ОтветитьIt's on when you turn on location and tracking on Google maps and runs a constant history that you can look up (and anyone else with a court order (and some without) accessed through your registered gmail. Oh what fun for divorce court.....
ОтветитьFun fact: You don't have to buy original AirTags to use with Find My network. There are many knockoffs that work just as well.
ОтветитьYou don't even need the feds to attach a tracking device to your coat anymore, you will do it yourself and happily
ОтветитьMesh networks scare me.
Ответитьman really just wanted to make a video lol this did not need to be almost 10 mins
Ответить🍎😁
ОтветитьIt sucks that Google is making this tech proprietary from a user perspective, but corporations building proprietary features ontop of open standards isn't new or in itself unethical, in my opinion. Proprietary features built on top of open standards is how corporations differentiate their products from their competitors, increasing competition and innovation. Otherwise there wouldn't be a purpose to building a product since it would be identical to every other product using that standard.
ОтветитьOpensource is infinately more scary than corporate greed
Ответитьam I missing something with the icloud web based find my apple that works from any browser including from an android phone?
ОтветитьIt seems like privacy is still possible but it is just extremely inconvenient to maintain
ОтветитьAlways loved
ОтветитьEsp32 tracker tracker
ОтветитьThank god they can track us more!
ОтветитьYeah no thanks gargle. One thing I found from switching to linux is that once you remove the tracking and spyware, you don't need much power or bandwidth. Personally all I need is navigation and occasionally a browser and a phone connection. All of this is easily achieved with open source software and plug and play raspberry pi modules. My next phone I will literally make myself and have maybe a backup in a Faraday case.
ОтветитьNo need
ОтветитьCan I turn this off to minimize carbon footprint?
ОтветитьHow much is a used microwave again?
ОтветитьHow does one hardware delete the bluetoothamething?
ОтветитьJust dont take your tech outside wtf
ОтветитьAll mobile phones are just spy machines...
The federal government was supposed to
Regulate these devices and protect consumers
-instead, they allow the corporations and big
Tech to do anything they want - as long as
They get their CUT...
World's largest P2P network?
Ответитьanother incentive to find a phone with a removable battery
