When PM cried, it was fake. The Malaysian PM Tunku Rahman said that he did not understand why Lee was crying because he got what he wanted. A country for the majority Chinese.
The port of Singapore was set up by the British - Raffles and not Lee. It was a thriving port before it separated from Malaya.
Singapore has political stability because it is an elected autocracy. It ranks low on the democracy index.
You also need to differentiate between political stability and the rule of law. They are not one and the same. Each can exist without the other.

I agree... but there are additional points that you need to consider. Size of the country matters. Big changes are possible easily for small countries. When the country is very big, changes can't be applied that easily UNLESS, a)there is Autocracy, b) there are zero internal politics destroying country's own developments and 3) no internal elements able to damage the country from within or support external forces trying to bring the country down.

Lucky Singapore, enjoying secular status, there are many states in this world who can do a lot better if detached from their suckered countries. One example is Sindh and Baluchistan
