One of my favs
ОтветитьBefore the mnemonist arrived to the safe-breaker's real identity, he listed some half-a-dozen names, the last three of which were: "Crib, Crab, Krebs".
One meaning of "Krebs" in German is "Crab", the name he came up with immediately preceding "Krebs".
Just before "Crab" he wrote down "Crib".........which is in the name "Crib---bins".........the real name of the actor playing the safe-breaker: Bernard Cribbins.
To add to this, "King", the name the safe-breaker changed from, to cover his identity, is just what Bernard Cribbins has always been for me: King of Characterisation.
The man is such a natural. So funny, and yet so serious. Even when serious, the man is a barrel of laughs. Because it's so real.
First time I stumbled on him was through a song of his "A Hole In The Ground", which lately I found online.
The song, like Cribbins, is hilarious.
That ending was truly the most unexpected!
ОтветитьWonderful episode, I love it and the three main actors are all superb. Colin Blakely, what an amazing voice that man had...
ОтветитьNow That was a Tale I didn't quite expect. Very GOOD! Thanks for Posting.
ОтветитьThe shop scene when he places the add is down my road!
Ответить1066! We learned that in our schools too.
ОтветитьWe're supposed to believe that woman was with THAT GUY? I rest the case I'm always making about this phenomenon.
ОтветитьHaving watched other episodes, I felt a twist to the ending is inevitable, but I did not expect this! Thank you for posting it.
ОтветитьThe shopkeeper looks like a Psychoville character played by Steve Pemberton!
Ответитьserves his rear end just right.
ОтветитьWell deserved. Thanks for upload.
ОтветитьJudy Geeson!
ОтветитьI'm quite sure Mr King is the same actor in Fawlty Towers, the guy who was thought to be the hotel inspector
ОтветитьHaha, boom!
ОтветитьClever episode, nice to see Judy Geeson, who was in To Sir With Love. Thanks for posting.
ОтветитьCan someone please explain the twist ending for me?
Ответитьcrime does not pay gun powder charlie was a good safe breaker also he was good at digging holes and drinking tea and getting nowhere
ОтветитьLooks like he went out with a bang.
ОтветитьPolice officer at the end from the film SCUM
ОтветитьI think Bernard Cribbins must have been on every tv show ever made at some point.
ОтветитьNgl I was a bit disappointed with the ending. So much anticipation I was expecting something a bit more clever. A primary school kid could have written the ending... ‘and it all ends in an explosion!’
ОтветитьTotal TV Gold 👌seven bloody numbers,
ОтветитьThese short stories are very well ahead of their time and very well exactitude
The are mind blowing tales
Thanks for letting us see these works of art 🖼,,
unfortunately having good memory doesn't necessarily come with smarts
ОтветитьShades of Rising Damp's Rigsby in Colin Blakely's performance here.
ОтветитьThis is the seventh (of 112!) that I have watched so far. I give it 7 out of 10. In my opinion 'The Way Up To Heaven' and 'Vicious Circle' are better.
ОтветитьIsn't it odd that the woman keeps changing her allegiance to the man who she thinks has the most money ?
ОтветитьThanks Serdar,
Bernard Cribbins playing character quite similar to the one he famously played in Fawlty Towers.
👀👽
ОтветитьSomething does not add up. He got shot of the ticket in case he had the police on his case. If he was that far-sighted then he would have noted the numbers down in some code form.... nobody really can remember a seven digit number at the first time of asking.
ОтветитьKarma sure is a Bitch
ОтветитьSo the girl here is Judy Geeson from "To Sir with Love". Lovely actress.
ОтветитьAn ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT YARN, with super acting.
ОтветитьThis is one of my favourite episodes.
Edit; RIP Bernard Cribbins.
My favourite episode of all the series.
Re-watched today in honour of the sad news about Bernard Cribbins
A great episode. Lovely performance from Colin Blakely. xxxx
Ответитьim probably really stupid but i didnt get the ending?
ОтветитьFrom 1983, brilliant!
ОтветитьWonderful to se the late great Bernard Cribbins play against type here..there are times he’s genuinely menacing here
The mnemonist is played well, too…Colin Blakely adds so many little tics and quirks to the character so we really believe his desperation
What’s also interesting is how they play the mnemonist…he’s a cloud cuckoo lander convinced his party tricks are far more interesting and valuable than they really are
I mean, he celebrates putting postcards in the windows of tobacconists as some sort of brilliant idea of marketing 😂
Reminds me of a few amateur magicians I know 😂
Only thing that sort of is a bit confused is Judy Geeson’s character. It’s unclear if they’re close friends, lovers or what. Certainly there’s some suspension of belief as he looks so much older than her and she is far more attractive dynamic and practical than him
But maybe I’m overthinking a bit - Tales Of The Unexpected were always of varying quality
Some. We’re. Really. Good. Love. To. See. Them. Again.
Ответитьi didn't expect that ending, the twist was good
ОтветитьI love and HATE episodes like this. How Stupid can this guy be?! I mean really… rushing the client out; back to your own place; pulling it all out in plain; Dropping the box?
ОтветитьIt was a mystery what his secretary was supposed to be doing in this plot.
She seemed to be completely superfluous to the story line.
Sunday nights were never better than the late 70s , early 80s ( ish )
ОтветитьThankyou for uploading ❤
ОтветитьStruggling to understand the end :)
