So a better title: "money shouldn't be the reason to go to medical school"
You didn't really provide a reason "why you should study Medicine"

Doctors make a fortune.

This isn’t accurate. It just takes a very long time.

Will you be rich?

Yes.

Will you be young and rich? Never.

I honestly want to get in to make sure nobody else is mistreated by their doctor like my late mother was for her cancer. The oncologist disregarded her needs. Also i also don’t want people to suffer and to help them live as best as they could with all my power.

Let’s be honest and skip past the filler details, a majority of people who choose medicine just choose it for the status and privilege rather than choosing it for patient care.

Doctors always say there are “way better jobs for making a lot of money” for “less work” but I have yet to hear one of them actually give me an example of one of these jobs. Average salary for an attending doctor in America is about 300k starting. It would be extremely difficult to find a job that works significantly less hours starts at that compensation level. You could say investment bankers or software engineers (though they do not typically start at 300k) but these professions work nearly as many hours as newly minted attendings, if not more. I had a friend who went to Merrill Lynch out of college and was working 90+ hours a week for a 100k salary (including bonus). This sort of commitment is pretty typical for anyone starting out in a high laying field.

I don't think you can compair the British and American ones. Just look at the ammount of us doctors on 5 times the wage of a consultant in the uk and bitching about how they are underpaid. That's greed plain and simple

This was me years back... I always wanted to become a doctor, but then I realized the only thing that attracts me to medicine is "money" not the patients. So now, I'm studying finance which is all about money... education, work, and salary in finance are related to high income. AND bankers also help this world and people by managing their wealth.

i prob would want to become a doctor or pursue some biomedical field in general if i didn't think the world was already way too overpopulated as it was and is.
this is just a PERSONAL OPINION lol ur welcome to share ur own opinions and get angry at me but thats just MY opinion.
i do want to help the planet in general, but i feel like the health of people worldwide is too capitalized and corrupt by governments and massive corporatizations, and im not willing to be their shoemat.
i personally believe that environmental sciences would benefit the world more, and both humans and other creatures alike. (tbh i love animals more than humans sometimes lol)

In my country education for good students is free, but amount of med students is pretty low compared to those who have chosen to study IT, law or economics. That's because everybody knows that the biggest med university here has one of the highest corruption levels in the country and salaries in medical field are horribly low. Also, after finishing a med uni, where you have to pay in order to have good grades, you will work with sick and nervous patients in old buildings (that require reparation) with veeery old and cheap med tools and appliances in order to get a salary that can barely help you to get food and pay your bills. So, med students here are technically studying to become volunteers. Huge respect to them

In My opinion there Will always be something That eventually interests u or you find some sort of satisfaction in, even in Medicine. Just give it time. Any field is boring at some points.. I agree u shouldnt study medicine for the Cash, but its a fact that doctors earn A LOT of money (atleast where i live).
All in All I think u should give medicine a try, dont doubt urself, itll probably interest u. Just like everyone else .

I'm a Neurosurgery registrar, final exam next January - most people think Neurosurgery is one of the best ways to make money in medicine. While that's mostly true, I know many Neurosurgeons who make an obscene amount of money, almost all of them would agree that there are easier ways to get even richer. We are constantly working. The defeats are crushing. I live with my 5 year old son and I barely spend time with him because when I'm not working, I'm irritable and exhausted. I'm on call again tomorrow and I'd love to get some sleep but I have to study until 2-3 because there are grand rounds on tomorrow and the spotlight will be on me. If anyone would be willing to go through this purely for money I want you to know this would be the most foolish decision of your life bar none

PS don't do it because you think you love people either. People are often horrible selfish unworthy villains at the best of times and as a doctor you'll usually encounter them at low points in their lives so don't expect much better
