I’ll be honest, I never vibed with the original Alan wake - I thought it was a solid foundation and I liked where the story ended up going; and the overall aesthetic was pretty unique… but something about it wasnt sticking for me. The alan wake 2 we actually got is on a whole other level though. Phenomenal. Love the direction they took it in, way more compelling. Kinda glad they switched gears a bit compared to this demo.

Ironic when they said that Alan 2 was canceled and yet the sequel was actually made and released to the public.

This old concept of AW2 expanded outwards, where the final AW2 expanded inwards.

This is what happens when gamedevs are passionate about what they're making, all that time and you feel the polish in everything. Superb!!!!

It's really cool seeing a few of the aspects from the demo, still in the sequel. (clearly one of the Koleko bros) is the intro/outro. But changed them to what they are.

Honestly, I'm glad it sat cooking for so long, what we got was so friggin amazing. I feel it should have got GoTY. But i didn't play it till after the holidays.

Anyone else NEED to see that episode of Night Springs they teased or is it just me? Plus, super cool they already had Watery planned that far ahead. Like Ahti with his post card in Control.

I like how at the end of first game there comes Mr Scratch and Wake says "no need to worry about him" and then he is main threat for both spin-off and sequel.

Thanks god Microsoft didn’t greenlight this project.

Really seems like this version of Alan Wake 2 would be similar to the original/AN. It makes me glad they were never able to make it until now. What they ended up making was in a whole other league than what this concept looks like. Really goes to show that sometimes waiting is the better choice than rushing to make the next game. Sometimes the technology just needs to catch up to what you truly want to make.

It’s so cool to see demos like this and see the ambition as well as the differences of how it changed.
Would’ve love to see the enemy interactive combat like that. Cool.

It's so interesting how long it took to Alan Wake 2 being made and how that allowed Remedy to use new technologies like SSD to implement features that would be really hard (or almost impossible) to be implemented the way they where

nobody could have predicted how far ahead AW2 would be in terms of development.

Are the gas canisters from Max Payne? 😛

Would have loved to see a lot of these concepts be reused from this version of Alan Wake 2 and American nightmare into our current AW2 just to see how wild and crazy they could make the concept of reality coming true and more stuff of the dark place But the version we got is immaculate

Omfg!!! How have i only just seen this. I like AW2 but this would of been amazing. If they actually brought this out as a standalone one off game/demo/dlc would 100% buy

It was worth the wait, I loved every second of the sequel & it came with huge graphical updates I’m just glad I got to be alive to play it lol, let’s see what the future of Wake holds after 2.

I will forever wish that this was the version of AWII that we got. I couldn't even bring myself to finish the released version; I just shut it down after four hours and went back to playing the original and American Nightmare.

no doubt that this game would be very good, but I prefer Alan Wake 2 2023

Since Alan Wake 2 is out now, it'd be fun to play this as a night spring episode

This is a far superior build than the pile of DEI dosgsh*t version that Remedy released in 2023 after they got infected by the woke mind virus,so glad Alan Woke 2 flopped.

This is actually fascinating in a post AW2 world.

Do Fear & Respect PS2 Gameplay

it's so interesting seeing the bones of the storyboard mechanic from AW2 on display here. What they implement here gets its day in the sun in AWAN and so clearly points towards the masterpiece that is AW2

I wish we had this instead of the actual game that has been turned into a useless and bland horror game with a boring gameplay and a terrible level design.

Looks like Alan Wake 1.5. I'm happy that this version didn't go through. AWII feels like a much more mature game.

This would make a great belated DLC to the first Alan Wake. 😊
