Pretty but not a light sabre.

Everyone is referring this to a proto saber. This isnt even that. Not saying this isnt cool. But be real. Its not a lightsaber. it's not even a protosaber. Its a powerful torch. Cool in its own right, but people watching, dont live in fantasyland. This isnt even a step in that direction. This is a lateral move in technology.

I'm geeking out over this and hearing Gustav Holst "Mars" and "Jupiter" as my ma]rching band played both in High school!

Favorite part: this looks COMPLETELY valid as a legitimate, deadly weapon.
If it was designed a little differently I could even see it being viable against handguns at close range.

I don't remember Jedi and Sith using backpacks and welding gases. putting a lightsaber handle on a torch doesn't make it a lightsaber.

light sabers were never compleyely solid. but its descrption is fantasy. the filmmakers were well aware lasers act nothing like they do in the movie. theres hope a proton blade might be more usable.

if you want to make a really useful weapon, make a plasma bullet.

But surely if you duel another one the flames would just go through the other instead of clashing no?

I vividly remember being a kid and looking at fictional blueprints for the construction of a lightsaber in this Star Wars book I had, and having an intense desire and belief that I could make one myself. I really believed it could be done. If it can be imagined, it can be created! Well done guys.
