It's been well documented in the world courts. China has stolen several sub-assemblies in the process of making the 919. Honeywell's avionics, Airbus's carbon fiber processing , this list goes on . This is not an organic home grown airframe it's a copy of multiple different airframes build by western companies..

Only downside for the C919 is its range even a Embraer 190 has better range, I hope it does well for them but I can’t see it completing against MAXs or NEOs.

The C919 has already had many issues after its first launch, to include engine malfunctions, and export controls on dual use tech will further slow its progress. The Chinese lack the expertise to develop local answers to this tech, and if Chinese tofu dreg is any indication of how they build things, you could drug me up and I still wouldn’t step foot on a locally made aircraft.

I don't don't that the Chinese will be bullied out of the market by the two majors as Bombardier was with its magnificent desio the c100. Airbus got the entire c100 now A220 for 531 millions! Almost free

Always informative Sky! The 919's development is logical and the strategy sound. It a certain, that the strategy will try to balancer an EASA-FAA domination, stained by the 737 MAX and the FAA's relationship. There's still a part of me that wishes Asia coming into these new markets could innovate more instead of chasing after what the Werst does. When I go to China and see their SUVs, it's like any other. I wish they could add more Asian flair dot them, if not on the design part.

Most people don't understand how difficult and complex it is to make machines that safely lift more than 100 people up in the air. A light weight machine that is strong enough. A fuel efficient design will be best.

If 10 years ago you tell anyone in the street that China will sell commercial planes in 2024, people will laugh at you but look where we are now. That's the funny thing about fate. It can be downright unpredictable because we control nothing.

All sounds great until China invades Taiwan and Western sanctions mean their shiny new aircraft has no Engines, landing gear, engine nacelles, Thurst Reverse C Ducts, Avionics Suite, flying controls, hydraulic components, APU or IFE.

Taking the 737s place will take more than a A320 copycat airplane. There’s type ratings to consider, lack of reliability, support infrastructure, and industrial ability to produce 50 aircraft per month. Boeing has cleaned house and is reorganizing and will offer a whole new plane to western airlines before the 919 can catch up.

This aircraft is only assembled in China with about 50% parts from Western Countries including, Engines. Western Countries decide to stop supplying parts, manufacturing, will come to scratching holt also, Sections will shut down to its entirety.
Engines are back bone of any aircraft. Once China developed there own engines developed and start testing on 919 aircraft successfully, certifications will take 2 to 3 years only if Western Countries allow it. Russian are far ahead with MC 21 ready for mass production in Jan 2025. 100% Russian made Parts including engines PD14.
