2007 was the year that fully answered the question : "Can a dumb-ass player win a WSOP bracelet by simply getting piss lucky, regardless of how many bad plays he makes?"

The answer was clearly "YES", and then that same Goof player quickly proceeded to donk-off all the proceeds of that donk win ! Forest Gump was correct.... "Stupid IS as Stupid DOES."

That was one of my favourite WSOP to watch back in the day...

He won because he played opposite to what everyone else was doing and it paid off...

Everyone say it's luck, which is true and not, even with pure luck, it's still a very very low chance of even coming top 20th for this tournament.

Jerry Yang is actually a Hmong Refugee even though he's Asian.

And you all just had to be there in 2007. I remember WSOP became so popular by the 2000s that it was on cable TV every day so one day my buddies and I were just hanging out, we tuned in to watch it. Then we saw Jerry Yang who was playing and all thought that he was likely Chinese or Korean until the casters mentioned his Hmong background. After that, we watch his tables as much as we can because it was the first time we have ever seen a Hmong player in a big WSOP league.

We did missed some hours because the games are just too long after 3 hours of watching. But we did get to see his finale table and when he eliminated Lam to win it all. It was a sight to be proud of and for anyone who is Hmong, this was another huge milestone for the Hmong community.

Both refugees from the Vietnam war that spilled into Laos and Cambodia, because USA wanted to fight a war defensively, while letting the enemy rearm and supplied by USSR. USA afraid to take a the war to the ports of north Vietnam. Both poker players family fled because communist dictators wanted a socialist utopia by killing business owners, teachers, leaders, because there is no leaders in a society where everyone is equal.
