Frame rate ???Who cares about frame rate on a tactic strategy game😂😂😂😂😂😆
ОтветитьMan…I’m skipping on this one. I think it’s a lazy remaster for $60. I’ll stick to the originals. I’m playing those on my steam deck and it’s awesome!
ОтветитьDF is just a toxic dumpfire.
ОтветитьUnity just needs to be thrown in the bin.
ОтветитьThis game costs as much as Elden Ring.
ОтветитьIts remind me of game called “ancient empires”
ОтветитьThe art style reminds me of the same vain of Pokémon bdsp. Cheap and uninspired
ОтветитьThe lack of any sort of online multiplayer besides friends is extremely disapointing. You cant even save and load multiplayer battles. How did Way forward not include this in the game is mind boggling to me.
ОтветитьStill have my various game boys and these games
ОтветитьI liked playing the remake collection of classic advanced wars games on switch. But, I do agree to those who felt underwhelmed by what could've been done better visually as well as many other little elements that add to the gameplay. But none of the less, I like the game despite me feeling at times underwhelmed in some aspects of the game that could've been done better that I mentioned before.
ОтветитьI played through AW2 on GBA recently. I would have liked a new campaign. I see no reason to play through it again with arguably worse graphics. The 2D graphics on GBA looks great. Especially on my Anbernic R351P that has exactly 2X the resolution and the same 3:2 screen to make it a pixel perfect upscale.
ОтветитьI wish WayForward would've kept a slight grit to the art direction like in the GBA originals for Re-Boot Camp. Because the remakes just look a bit too kiddy even for my taste.
ОтветитьI loved the originals but hate the art direction here. They should have just cloned the original and expanded the screen size. It feels too plastic…like the soul has been sucked out
ОтветитьI do hope we get a proper new entry. I’ve always preferred the series over Fire Emblem gameplay wise and felt sad we never got anything after Days of Ruin
ОтветитьI do like the combat screens graphics. They look like the toys in the Japanese game art for the DS game.
Ответитьwhy cant they make the game graphics look the same as the style of the opening/characters?
Ответитьlol tbh i would play GBA no emu than this, looks totaly bland and meh
Ответитьit's about time to dump unity on consoles and mobile devices, it almost always disappoints performance wise and personally i hate the generic look most unity games have.
ОтветитьI love how Tom talkes about how people might prefer pixel visuals. Recently I suffer from internet now says all old games are bad (reddit and partially discord) because it is not accessible for everyone. I can not wrap my head around this idiotic black and white thinking.
ОтветитьNintendo joke hardware continues.
ОтветитьIt would have been cool to see this get the HD-2D aesthetic. Performance is kinda a grip. Least it's finally out lol
ОтветитьThis game is a masterpiece.
ОтветитьSomething I haven't seen anyone talk about, which seems to be the core of the failure in visual stye is the american team remastering this not being familiar with the actual inspirations for the original spritework.
Wayforward seems to be under the assumption the inspiration would be glossy plastic army men toy soldiers, when everything points to the original's visual style being a pixel art representation of scale model kits, very popular with kids and otaku in japan. Tamiya and Hasegawa come to mind. The black hole army being clearly inspired by Kow Yokoyama's Maschinen Krieger model kits.
One of the key differences between scale modeling and gloss plastic toy tanks is scale modelling putting more emphasis on a weathered matte presentation with lots of panel lining, rather than cheap plastic gloss.
In Japan model kit building is very much a core otaku hobby just like comic books and videogames, in the west there's less overlap.
So the wayforward team being ignorant of this key aesthetic element is why you end up with what amounts to poorly understood pastiche.
Got banned on r/Nintendo for criticizing the artstyle of this game. Lmfao. Nintendies sure are something else.
ОтветитьIt's perfect and I won't be taking any other opinions or facts lol obviously not true but it's fantastic
ОтветитьI can't say I really understand the graphics critisism. In my eyes the game looks almost perfect. Although I'm not a graphics nerd. Initially I didn't like the toyish style though. I think they could have gone for a slightly more gritty style. Then again I much prefer the traditional style of advance wars to the gritty AW: days of ruin.
ОтветитьThe originals look so much better
ОтветитьI pre ordered this game. I’m not surprised that it has lackluster performance, but I also don’t care. I love the advance war series because of its pure SRPG style. It cuts all the crap and just gets down to pure gameplay that I have loved since I played it many years ago in emulation. I’m finally going to own a copy of these fantastic games. Thanks Digital foundry for still covering this game despite it being a Switch title.
ОтветитьNintendo finally brings back a beloved series and all everyone wants to do is cry about the art style and that it’s not 4k 120fps 🤦🏼♀️
ОтветитьReboot looks like a baby game for babies
ОтветитьThe soundtrack is the best part of this game, they REALLY blew it out of the park.
ОтветитьI've only ever played the first one on DS. Does it feel like much of a backward step to play what are essentially GBA games? I really liked the maps that had two fronts on the separate screens, plus I guess the newer units aren't in the remake? I remember the stealth fighter being new in the DS one
ОтветитьThis games visuals remind me of 'Links Awakening', a similarly "simple" looking game that also seemed to tax the Switch hardware more than expected.
I played and enjoyed 'Links Awakening', so was able to get over the visual style of the game, but the occasional performance dips would take me out of it.
It's a shame 'Advance Wars' didn't go for a cel shaded look, it would have been a better match for the new cinematics and likely would age better.
Did anyone or the maker of this video try out online yet? IS it like versus and can play all maps 1 vs 1 or is it very limited to small maps?
ОтветитьSuch a shame they went for such an uninspired generic look. A toy-like style a la Link's awakening would have given the game much more charm
ОтветитьThe 2D art is beautiful, it's just a shame that that the 3D visuals had such a simplistic lifeless look to it and didn't try to emulate the 2D animated cutscenes.
ОтветитьThe interesting thing about FPS is if you didn't know what the number was, you wouldn't care. This game looks like 60 when I'm im playing it. When I'm told it's 30, I just thought "oh, it is?" And then continued playing.
It literally doesn't matter. FPS is a weird buzzword measuring stick for weirdos. If you play the game, you don't know what the fps is. Don't pretend you can tell the difference between 28 or 30 or 32.
This should be 60 fps Wii title. Is Unity engine really that bad?
ОтветитьHey, don't expect anything on antiquated garbage hardware...
ОтветитьThey should’ve went all out and made the best 2d sprites they possibly could, this would’ve been amazing
ОтветитьWithout the pixel art, this looks like a low-rent indie game to the uninformed
ОтветитьIt's one thing to complain about the art style, but seeing people griping about the frame rate and comparing the original game or some other game to bash Advance Wars's uneven frames on the Switch has me puzzled. Like, it's a turn based strategy game, a few dips in frame rate isn't the end of the world. It's no wonder people make fun of those obsessed with frame rates.
ОтветитьSo no option to switch to the old artstyle? Wow.
ОтветитьI personally love the art style, it's like cute little toys
ОтветитьWatching the gorgeous animated cutscenes made me legit sad because the game itself is awful to look at. What could have been.
ОтветитьIt's the Switch's fault, not Unity's.
ОтветитьYou have so many prejudices about unity but which turn out to be developers' custom desgin and implementations
ОтветитьWhat is the obsession with 60gps? It's almost unrecognisable. With a strategy board game like this, it's literally not an issue.
ОтветитьOh come on, it could have done 60fps. 😆
ОтветитьIt’s kind of upsetting that you can’t play against randoms online
