You can help by advocating (like accompanying your loved one to a doctor appointment) and when the doctor inevitably doesn't take it seriously, you tell the doctor how bad it is. I've heard that some people have only gotten the medical help they needed after using this approach! (I'm a lucky lady, I never had it that bad!)
