bro, i just build my own one yesterday

I built a small one near my home base so it's loaded all the time and it makes more then I'll ever need. Now Multiple double chests of iron blocks. With only a few villagers and a zombie, lag is not even a concern. I feel the it's best option unless you change worlds a lot.

Fun tip. Villagers like climbing ladders. Can be an easy way of getting them to go UP.

ianxofour's iron farm has to be the most early game one, it doesn't even need lava to work if you don't have any, you can make the iron golems suffocate

I don't understand why anyone needs a bigger farm than a basic one. I never needed so much iron that I ran out. Often I even throw it into the lava because I don't have space for it anymore.

I built the Nico is Lost portal farm and made two large towers and might make two more towers. The rates on it are awesome, for my collection system I took advantage of the crafter blocks and made a system to convert them to iron blocks right away. It presently fills about 1 chest of iron blocks an hour. If you are building this type of farm in survival, I would recommend having an industrial gold farm and gold trading farm to get the obsidian.

These are so interesting. I never needed to set up an iron farm in my worlds, but I admit I play on them so much that I will always end up inadvertently mining more of the resource than I would ever need. I completely understand the reasoning for building this it's just interesting that it's never been necessary for me. Ive always needed to automate farming. Have a machine farm melons for me. But I'm always excavating or terraforming some area and I run into so much iron. If you ever tried to remove a mountain from your world, you will understand what I'm talking about.

It's like the copper resource, I never actually need it but end up with yet another double chest full of it. I've decided to convert them into blocks of raw copper because I can't store it all. That's how much copper gives you. But there's silk touch stuff for a reason. I do the same with lapis, because you can break one lapis block and get 32 lapis, it's way more efficient to store it that way in the ore block, that is in bulk you store the ore blocks and then fortune mine them as necessary whenever you need more lapis. It's a cool block to build with but I don't use that much of it so it's another thing I store away and never use lol
