Well i live in germany and You were proude (pride) as a Kid when your Parents bought you the Faber-Castell ones and Not the noname ones although the noname ones had some brighter colors which i found really nice as a little kid so i had no problem with that but thats a thing of preference i guess
ОтветитьThe tin on the derwent annoys me the kids a bit loose on mine and always falls off in my bag
ОтветитьWhen I first started coloring 5 years ago I used a budget set that was really disappointing. This set, Marco Raffine was not blending well and you needed too much pressure to release pigmentation. Then when I graduated from college a year later my then boyfriend gave me the 120 set of Faber Castell Polychromos. They opened up the coloring experience for me. I learned to layer, create textures and really bring light and dimension to my work. I have acquired many sets since including some by Derwent. But as it turns out prismacolors have ended up as my favorites. By the way my boyfriend is now my husband. I guess that shows just how powerful great art supplies can be. Great channel Jazza.
ОтветитьCastel el mejor de todos
ОтветитьI think it’s funny that he thinks Faber Castell is cheap when in all actuality if he bought the actual made in Germany kind that usually comes in a green box or green tin they’re just as expensive as Derwent
ОтветитьI‘ve got the 48 set of the fabercastell goldfarben and i really love them! 😊
ОтветитьI saw a video where someone contacted the company and was told that The Derwent Studio and Derwent Artist color pencil have the exact same core or "lead". Same Formula so no difference there. The difference is the Studio has a thinner core with hexagon barrel. The Artist one is thicker.
ОтветитьI got some regular dewent, faber castel and monte mart pencils for sketching. The derwents are horrible for manual sharpening, the wood is to hard and the leads always break.
ОтветитьMy favorite color-wise, was the fireman. The sorcerer was kinda creepy. The ninja monkey cracked me up! Love all of your illustrations! Your dragon drawings are my favorites!
ОтветитьUntil I started really learning how to color when adult coloring books became a big thing, I had never heard of any ofthese brands of colored pencils. Crayola is the brand of coloring supplies that are popular for kids here and Prismacolor is the more popular artist grade pencils. I have a lot of different colored pencils now for when I color including the set of Prismacolor colored pencils that has every color in it. The Prismacolor set is my my go to set out of all the pencils I have. They blend well and I love how they look.
ОтветитьTo compare like for like, One should compare Faber Castell basic/cheap range with Derwent Academy range. Faber Castell professional range (in dark green tin) are more or less in the same price range as Derwent professional.
ОтветитьI live your videos but this was hardly a fair comparison. Faber Castell kids pencils are more similar to Crayolas, you could have at least used Goldfabers: the student grade ones.
Ответитьderwent is it
Ответитьit can't be stressed enough that both derwent sets are about 5 times - i repeat - 5 times more expensive than the fc classics (current price on amazon, central europe). you can get 2 sets of 60 fc classics or 1 set of 36 fc polychromos for less than a set of 24 derwent of either variety.
the price for the derwents is absolutely unjustifiably unjustified. feel free to add the word 'ridiculous' if you wish.
Hi Jazza, would you have a view of Derwent Academy vs. Faber Castell Classic? They seem to be a more direct comparison.
ОтветитьDerwent Studio are basically the same (the same core formula) as Artists line but thinner. I thought they put that info on Studio's tin.
ОтветитьI love my Faber Castel Poly Chromos- they are not cheap and their build quality is a lot better than my Lightfast pencils that I paid twice as much for and do not like nearly half as much. There is no such thing as "best". It is all personal preference when it comes to professional pencils, especially of Luminance, Lightfast and Poly Chromos. All three are wonderful and just simply art tools. You pick the best tool for the job and most of my jobs Poly Chromos works best.
ОтветитьCan anyone help me with the music used in this video?
Ответитьi came to this channel on a random re faber and castell and find out yt has already subscribed me? idk what this shit is but its the second time ive had to unsub from a random channel and whats worse ive been unsubbed unknowingly from two channels i chose to be notified about every upload. someone selling ghost subs is one thing, but censorship via alternate means is fucked up. great channel im sure but i'll choose my own subs cheers!
ОтветитьHow could you compare Derwent with school grade Faber-Castell? Are you unfamiliar with Faber-castell pencils?
Absolutely crazy.
As was already pointed out a thousand times in the comments, this couldn't have been a more unfair comparison. Comparing the luxury, professional artists' pencils by one brand to the budget hobby artists' pencils by another brand. Faber-Castell has luxury, pro artists' pencils too, and they are of fantastic quality. In art academy EVERYONE swears by them.
ОтветитьMy favourite are some 37 year old caran dache watercolor pencils which my great grandma gave to my mum.
Ответитьwhat do you use to outline the sketch? thanks!
Ответитьalso that monkey picture is amazing lol
ОтветитьI have a Derwent studio 12-piece blacklead set and Faber Castell classic coloured 48 piece pencils
ОтветитьDerwent ALWAYS! That’s for lasting excellent results. Now I’m in groups who were so upset because Derwent pencils came broken from Amazon. I bought the 72 with the wood box case and nothing broken. Then I read people saying the Derwent blocks showed up broken but mine arrived in perfect condition so I’ve seen a lot of complaints and also he says growing up he used Derwent, I’m sixty two and in the very beginning when no one had a computer and I was online way ahead of Windows. My husband was a computer electronics engineer after twenty years of training groups in the Army. After a few years of playing games online I discovered PSP or paint shop pro. I then began training others and doing online classes etc…so with paint shop pro or any paint program really I could draw and paint anything my customers wanted but taking that to painting in the real world is not that easy for me anyway so I have just been practicing real world painting a short time. Derwent is expensive if your just starting out and I have been trying other brand like Caran which is even more than Derwent and I’ll try others too but bottom line is a great Artist which is not me can make any of them show off. My oldest son wins any contest he enters. He is really good and most other people think so too but he has bipolar which you wouldn’t know unless he tells you but he has no belief in his gifts. My gift is creating on quilts so that’s why I use Derwent. I draw then paint just about anything then quilt it. That’s the biggest thing that draws me to Derwent.
Ответитьthe app needs another update. i just tried to download it and my phone wont let me. :(
Ответитьcolor wise i like the magican, that glow is cool, but my favorite drawing is the monkey. its awesome and adorable.
ОтветитьBeing from Melbourne, I grew up with these same brands. I don't think there was much else, other than some more generic brands. I remember in high school everyone wanted the Derwent Artists pencils. They were seen as the best quality pencil you could get, or at least thats what we thoughts. Two years ago, I wanted to get back into pencil art so I was very excited to see the same 72 tin was on sale and I bought them. This was before I watched 10,000 YT videos and got to understand what makes a good pencil and also the different types and now I don't really use these pencils at all. I love my Faber Castell Polychromos. The Derwents just don't have bright colours that I want and they are harder wax (which is how I thought all pencils are), but I soon will need to try a more detail picture as I am sure they have their purposes, and I haven't been using them correctly yet.
ОтветитьYour app isn't available for the latest androids. It says it was made for older versions of android. Any chance of updating that?
Ответитьlet me rename the video : Derwent artist grade vs Farber Calstels kid grade 😅
ОтветитьI'm guessing this guy doesn't use colored pencils, doesn't know the different between Derwent Artists, Procolor, Colorsoft, Drawing and Lightfast, as well as never heard of Faber Castell Polychromos?
If you wanna learn about colored pencils go to Lachri Fine Art or Sarrah Ranae Clark.
Question hi galat hai tumhara. Poocho Natraj ya Apsara?
ОтветитьPen only, pencils are for cowards
ОтветитьWhat!!! Ive followed you forever and this is the first ive heard of the app!!🤯
ОтветитьWait.. he compared the entry level of derwent and the student grade of faber castell? Though i'm not sure if artist and studio are the entry level for derwent
ОтветитьDerwent are so expensive just paid $500.00 for a set of 100 lightfast pencils, cheaper to buy a set of Fabercastel polycroms.
ОтветитьThe polychromos line by Faber Castell are not cheap.
ОтветитьAre we still doing the $50 give away? 🤦🏾♂️
ОтветитьI live in Canada....buying faber castels are not cheap and its friggin expensive!! your cheap one cost me $60 dollars!!!!
ОтветитьWell, this was a hoot! I enjoyed the smart and reasonable analysis and comparison, based on obvious experience, and gained some great working insights. I loved the clever and humorously realized characters you derived from your app, and your technique and just plain gift for all the little details that make a character alive and speaking off the page, you really have it and I love it. But the app itself blew me away as an idea. I'm new to colored pencil art, but I'm a writer who has taught from prompts similar to this for years, with unique and deeply exploratory results from many students, and it never occurred to me how that would work with visual art. Brilliant, and I guess shame on me for my lack of imagination. Makes me want to have writing students draw their writing, or team with writers for a team-taught class with an illustrator.
ОтветитьThat monkey is wonderful! Beautiful work! 🐒❤
Ответитьbag where you keep the drafting tools at the begining??? I need that..
ОтветитьWould a someone really serious about art really use what is intended to be cheap childrens' pencils? For a child the Derwent wouldn't really be viable due to the price. A huge set back for Derwent is the fact that the vast majority of stores don't carry the open stock. The so called Studio and Artist pencils are exactly the same with the exception of the pigment thickness and pencil shape. Another let down is the fact that they are not Lightfast, so aren't the best choice for the serious artist. Ok for work not intended for a wall where they would fade. Artist and Studio pencils? Not really! The Derwent Lightfast range would be the better choice for serious artwork and studio. My choice all round though is with the Faber Castell Polychromos and the Caran d Ache Luminance. The cheap set of Faber Castell would be what I would recommend for a child due to the price.
ОтветитьThe derwent is not much vibrant when he showed his art I think the Faber castell is better tbh my opinion
ОтветитьFavourite Polychromos by Faber Castell
ОтветитьNot fair. You should compare them to the Faber Castell polychromos. Terrible review.
ОтветитьYes okay, but then, why wouldn't you compare the professional Derwent pencils to professional Faber Castell pencils, which are there. Why did you pick a school set of these - really makes no sense to me. I first subscribed but then, when it became so obvious, that this is an unfair and by the way also unprofessional comparison only recorded to make Faber Castell look rubbish, I unsubscribed instantly. Did you get paid by Derwent for this? Being a professional artist like you really are doesn't mean, you're also a professional marketing expert. Of course you should have chosen a school set from Derwent.
