I almost dont care about PES gameplay, just hearing about the cool tech and design choices they have to make has me completely hooked
ОтветитьWasn't able to fully understand what would happen when you 30k while in your ship while you're running cargo, for example. Will 3.18's PES also offer the current 30k protection we have, which is actually working well?

ОтветитьI call bullshit on this idea they have not implemented it yet because they dont have staff or servers! Fact is they are using the Amazon infrastructure where spooling up additional servers is a simple matter of a few clicks and so far as staff is concerned that is already in place since it is in the Amazon data center and trust me they already have more than enough staff and for what CIG needs to do to handle this the staff they have should be more than capable of managing this and if they cant they need to rethink who they hired because that is a copout to make such an ignorant claim!
ОтветитьI hope the servers are up for basic PES without even thinking about someone trying to build a med gown fort. Let's hope we get PES and salvage in 3.18.0 and not we'll get it to you in the .18 patch cycle. I do like using my face eyes BoredGamer.
Ответитьuntil we get either the massive server meshing, or some sort of shard browser, PES would be mostly a gimmick i think. i mean, its got potential? and hopefully it means when i try to share crap with other people it doesn't immediately vanish? but....yeah, without a guarantee of coming back to a shard/server, its almost useless to me

ОтветитьSC is fun and addicting for the most part, but it also has a lot of things in it that seem arbitrary, unrealistic, and unnecessarily tedious.

*Persistent as long as you don't leave the server
Currently they can't even keep global chat and friends list working so I'm not very confident on their abilities atm. 😆

ОтветитьI was quite happy with this latest Star Citizen Live with the Turbulent chaps talking in detail about PES. It has provided answers to questions I had and numerous clarifications.
- Despite reduced expectations, I'm still curious to see the effect of PES in 3.18 (storing items on ships in various places; also to see if they implement the enhancements to server/client crash recovery)
- Of course players will try to block elevators and landing pads!! The question is what automated processes CIG will have in place to frequently and vigorously 'clean' landing pads and ingress/egress points around elevators and buildings. Then, once such systems are in place and are working, we can start talking about bans for players who repeatedly try blocking elevators, pads and thoroughfares because there will be no immediate further need to 'test' it.
This SCL on PES has dialled up and highlighted the contrast for all of us between what we thought CIG said and our own interpretation of what that means, versus what CIG actually said and what that actually means !
- So, my interpretation of what CIG previously said was that we'd have some kind of server/shard 'affinity' at the onset of 3.18, but the reality is that this is not the case ... for now!
Ohh, it seems like we will be getting a lot of duplication bugs or items just sublimation of our items =(
Not having the ships persist consistently is disappointing.
The point of elevators or landing zones being blocked by trash... I can definitely see it xD
In any case, let's see how it rolls out, we are getting a lot of things lately and it's getting more every day, so let's just wait.
It'll be nice to see this stability in game. Just to have items be persistent throughout out server hopping (due to 30Ks, CTDs, etc) will be awesome.

ОтветитьI think the biggest problem right now is getting in a server with your friends. Unit there is server messing, they need to create a way for teams to load into the game.
ОтветитьPES is a cool addition to the game and could lead to more interesting things. But I fear the trolls will use it to cause chaos and annoyance for the rest of us. I can picture elevators being filled with garbage, which will prevent you from entering it correctly. Habs where we all spawn could be blocked or filled with boxes/carts to slow us down. It will be interesting to see how CIG will deal with such issues.

ОтветитьI'm sure CIG could just make it impossible to place clutter near elevator shafts/on ship landing areas when PES & Meshing are implemented. Preventative measures like not allowing ships too close to city buildings was (unfortunately) added without problem.

ОтветитьWe will probably not see a significant effect of PES until we have dynamic server meshing so that we all log in to the same shard and not have different servers.

ОтветитьWell CIG and no one knows what it will manifest. It is just the implementation, so we should not think 3.18 will bring something new. It is what happens after that is important.

ОтветитьI am absolutely certain that there will be shenanigans with PES. This video made me look up PEZ, since most people are pronouncing them the same. 2952 will be the 1000 anniversary of PEZ expanding internationally and opening up their New York City offices. They started in the 1920s in Austria, and the original PEZ dispenser in 1947 looked like a cigarette lighter with pin-up girls on it. It was the move to NYC that made them realize that their candies would be popular with kids too, not just smokers trying to kick the habit. And now I'm picturing what PEZ would look like in SC.

ОтветитьI don't understand this fully. Even if, in the end, it's only "highly likely" that we get back to the same shard, then what is the point? I thought the PU will be one large shard so that we're ALWAYS guaranteed to find the stuff we place down? Maybe I misunderstood but it sounds like it's not the case, even once match making is done?
