Both parties are right here. Burry's position was too large and risked liquidation. he needed to around about half it. Don't be results oriented now knowing it ended up a success.

I know someone who was an MBA student in 2002. He was really good in economics class and in finance. So, he was sitting in a coffee shop with classmates, explaining them economics from their econ class textbook. And he started explaining to them how simple law of supply and demand shows that real estate is already (2002!) in a bubble and will start collapsing in 2005-2006. Rough estimate.

His classmates started laughing and pulling his leg in a friendly way. He tried to explain on easy graph drawn on paper but they simply would not listen. They just could not believe it was about to happen.

Then, in 2006 - that is when mortgage defaults increased. He did not work in any industry before - he went straight from undergrad to MBA. No work experience except for some hard warehouse labor jobs. And some of his classmates were accountants, managers, etc, with experience.

He was absolutely right and they were wrong. You what happened? Many of them got jobs after graduating from MBA. But he did not. Not enough experience. Imagine that! He went to work as a regular lowest level computer clerk for a couple of years in a telecom company while working evening shifts in department store. And his classmates went into better jobs or were promoted after graduating. And he saw this crap in 2002! But could not get a job. How screwed up is that?

Something that has always been interesting to me is that when you are a kid, you are taught that you shouldn't use dirty language and that people in positions of "power" or "prestige" don't use dirty language because it is unbecoming. As an adult, you find out that all that shit goes right out the window as soon as something, anything, starts to go wrong.

And we're here again this time it's the dollar bubble which is way worst since almost everyone owns a dollar unlike a house. $GME and $AMC wasn't possible if not for the sudden influx of cash flow in the system.The millionaires of the today will be the poor of tomorrow while the poors of today will be expunged out of existence. Think Venezuela everyone there is a "Quadrillionaire"
