Raid. That's how you get the same thing, if it simply must be one logical drive. I currently have in my main gaming PC, 2 1TB SSD's (1 SATA and 1 NVME), 1 3TB HD (Mass Storage), and 1 1TB HD (salvaged from a laptop when I swapped it out for an SSD). No, none of them are set up in RAID but I don't mind the logical separation. The NVME is my boot drive and has some games. The other SSD has apps and some games. I'll be getting the 3080 or 3080 TI when they become available, but I can't afford both that and a $400 SSD. And who really needs 64GB of RAM right now? What program really uses all that for a gamer? I just upgraded to 32GB and that was only because it was so cheap to get, but 64GB?

SSDs and PCI-e drives are still far too expensive compared to 10 years ago when they were fairly new and the high price was somewhat justifiable.
SSDs are still far too expensive compared to HDD's when the terrabytes increase.
To relativize the price of SSD's this way in this video after 10 years of SSD's doesn't seem appropriate to me, sry.

Installing COD and Flight sim. Well there went my 1TB NVME. There are some newer games I notice the loading difference on the NVME, but most of my games especially older ones are fine running on a old HDD. I try to keep the 2-3 games I'm actively playing on the NVME. All the once in awhile games stay on the HDD. I paid $89 for a 4TB HDD and it loads older games and indie games just fine. The idea we need 64GBs of RAM is hilarious. Unless you are content creating or doing something RAM intensive, 64GBs of RAM is a complete waste of money. I went with 32GB to be safe and my utilization is rarely over 16GB.

Bought a tlc intel ssd 240gb 7 years ago, now it's replaced by 1 tb ssd, I've bought an usb 3.0 enclosure for the old ssd, works great for backing files. Much faster than external hdd. Next will be replacing my old nvme with 1 or 2 tb nvme and buy another nvme enclosure to use it for external backup.

My second rig, which recently died, was the first time I used an SSD. I got it in early 2017, and it came with a 250gb WD Blue SSD and a 1tb HDD for storage. It was a deal done through my PC builder, so the SSD I got for free. OS was put on the drive, and compared to my first rig, it was like night and day.

When said rig was on its dying legs a few months ago, I started planning for my new rig. Determined to spend more money buying more newer games, I opted for a storage upgrade. I again went with a dual drive, upgrading my SSD to 500gb and my harddrive to a whopping 4tb. In three months, I'm already getting close to surpassing 1tb in storage, and I will have surpassed my previous computer's total storage before July comes around.

But in hindsight, I kind of regret not buying more SSD storage, or going for a NVMe m.2. Much as I like my 4tb storage, there are certain games that feel sluggish on it. I probably would have gone for a 1tb upfront, or even better, a 2 tb, skip the second drive at first, and later add another 2tb SSD when I could afford it.

But hey, hindsight is 2020.... yay.... >>

Got the Hybrid when SSDs were overpriced because I knew I just had to wait and the prices would drop. Wouldn't bother with a Hybrid now.

Those early days of SSD was amazing. Bought a 60gb OSZ Ssd back then as a second drive mainly to install SWTOR on it. It easily cut the loading times in half. Wasnt that expensive either as competition was really big as new drives/development was skyrocketing.

I just bought M.2 2280 512GB. Windows starts in 5sec. Its 15x Faster than HDD. Better latency when you load textures for sure. But a not big deal at all for desktop if you have good SSD 300MB/s you are fine. Its deffinitly Worth to buy but i think M.2 should be primary for laptop segment.

120gb OCZ Vertex 3, bought back in 2011. Still working. I had questions on how long this thing'll last and honestly thought it'd be dead in 2 years. A decade later and it's still my primary harddrive. This and the PSU are basically the only things i haven't upgraded. May be time to get a samsung 970 500gb tho, i store my work files on a mechanical and it takes two minutes to load a project off that.

When I got my first flash drive, it was a birthday gift. I was in high school, but my brother had a military discount and employee discount that stacked from where he worked. Still would have cost him $16 back in that day. It was only one gigabyte big. Now a days, that same money can get you 2-3 flash drives that each hold 16 gigabytes. People who complain about storage prices needed a better perspective.

You can always add more SSDs if you need. They are very easy to install. I went with 1 TB samsung evo 980 pro and 4 tb hdds baracuda. I dont think i will use that much storage and most of the time you got filler offline games and tools, pictures etc you can store on HDDs. Regarding games doubt one can actively play more than 2-3 games at once.

LOL, I'm putting page file SSD's in some old, slow, insufficient memory PC's - like a ZT Systems Win 7 upgraded to 32 bit Win 10 with (wait for it) ..... 16 gb of memory! Had a 1TB 870 EVO page file on a 4gb Win 7 64bit eMachine and while technically not making it "faster", it definitely eliminated those awkward pauses that would occur frequently - I really noticed it when I had to take the SSD out.

Listen to this man, folks!
Two years ago I put a new rig together and used two M.2 of 500GB each. It didn't take long to see that was not enough, and recently upgraded to a 2TB PCIE4. I tried to 'save money' by using PCIE3 and small drives. My new 2TB Samsung 980Pro blows everything out of the water, my animations process fast, even a reboot takes mere seconds and my RGB and fans don't even go off! Not to mention that moving a 30 GB file from one folder to another doesn't even open the status bar, it moves so fast. I copied the OS onto one of the 500GB drives and stuck it away in case this one fails one day, but it's been steady as a rock.

hdd dont suck the newer high end HDD have catching software, in the drives. my cmr hdd often out performs my crucial mx500 in loading times sometimes it is slower as it has to load things to the cache, but each of my hdd's do so well (latest HDD tech) i decided to stop using my crucial mx500s, i have 4 crucial mx500s ssds and 2 nvme drives. still using my HDD's for the capacity yea nvme is way faster but for the price of 550 i have 28TB of storage for games and its decently fast even for transfers 250MB-300 or even a bit more a sec warhammer 2 campain loads on cache at 24 seconds, my crucial mx500 about a minute. they definetly dont suck mach 2 HDD are going to have 500MB a second transfers and even more Cache should have been 10 years ago but they were obsesed with hamr technology i think HDD will continue to be a reliable backup and gaming drive for years to come as even direct storage will support it, im even using smart access memory on mine and they work just fine. ive also dropped them from a few feet as a test *(never DO THAT!) but they still work newer ones are built like tanks.
