SOLID GOLD!
ОтветитьI love the "dream punk" sound. It's like classic song writing structures and emphasis on pop hooks, but with distorted guitars and flights into rock or even punk energy where appropriate. It's a perfect example of somebody having learned the rules so they can creatively break them. Another band with this sound is Eternal Summers, but unfortunately they don't have the mastery songwriting that somebody like Liz has.
ОтветитьAs someone who spent a year or two in a sinking relationship, this song hits too close to home.
Ответитьthis is the best unknowing explanation of karl marx I have ever heard. if you really thought that, you would move from your hellish city to a nice country home
Ответить🎶Can't stop, can't rewind, love is learned over time, til you're an expert in a dying field...🎶
As someone who just became single yesterday, those words hit me right in the feels.
"Love is learnt over time.. untill you are expert in a dying field", is perhaps the most profound words spoken in the 21st century.
ОтветитьI turned my headset up to 100 and it still wasnt loud enough for this song, loved you guys at Camp a Low Hum back in Feb!!
ОтветитьWith A.I. making music and getting better. Could The Beths be an expert in a dying field some day.
ОтветитьI just discovered this band. Loving your music! Thanks
ОтветитьMan! I think this song just reduced the rest of "pop music" to a hill of beans. And the video did the same for all the lousy TV shows and movies that are overrunning the world. Absolutely fantastic, and hooray for Larry Killip for the absolutely essential ambiance!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🏆😊
ОтветитьAs an old man obsessed with typewriters I can relate.
ОтветитьI can't decide whether to pay attention to the music, the words, or all the stuff.
I guess I'll just have to watch it again.
Caitlin Johnstone brought my attention to this song!
ОтветитьWas an expert in a field that was hand made. That died by computer interaction.
So I learned that interaction. That eventually died out. But by then I had rode the wave. Work life was almost over. But it still lead to interesting further work.
Enjoy your work, change, grow, believe in yourself and push worry to the back burner. There's really no other positive choice. My work was never my main identity.
the vocal harmonies at the end get me every time
ОтветитьYou could "jitterbug" to this.
ОтветитьMy job is to help maintain the old copper/aluminium broadband network, while it's all slowly replaced by fibre-optic. Most days it feels like palliative care, and there are fewer and fewer of us every year, due to redundancies and retirements.
"Expert in a dying field" speaks to me on a spiritual level 😂
Can’t stop listening to this
ОтветитьYeah but it's not about the second it's about the moments around it that created th!at great secoond!
ОтветитьThis is such a lovely happy kiwi tune well crafted. Hope to see these guys in Nelson next month
ОтветитьWhy does New Zealand look like a slightly different version of Canada?
Ответитьthe perfect song
ОтветитьDamn. Great song. I can't believe it took two years for me to find it, but I'm glad I finally did.
ОтветитьI forgot how good this is <3
ОтветитьI don't know who The Beths are except they have written an addictive song I can't stop playing.
ОтветитьAs a REAL neon sign bender...this video + song hits hard.
ОтветитьRevisiting.
ОтветитьA breath of fresh air.
ОтветитьWho produced this fine tune?
ОтветитьThis hits absolutely all the right feels - then add in some doo whops and ahhhhhhs
ОтветитьI'm an expert in a dying field. I delivered newspapers for over thirteen years. I know the feel of too much tension in a rubber band, the smell of a fresh bag being opened. The way to fling a tri fold or a bi fold paper, how to curve it around cars or through a rail fence. Heaving Sunday papers from a car. The awful taste of ink on your fingers when you accidentally stock them in your mouth because of a paper cut from a stiffer sneaky glossy coupon flyer. The crunch and cold of delivering during a blizzard. Being the first one to break the overnight spiderwebs with your face if you werent paying attention while running.
ОтветитьI only discovered this song tonight thanks to Jackie Clark Goes Prima Diva. What a wonderful and sad/beautiful song!
ОтветитьA startlingly original topic for a song👍👏🏼🫡
Ответитьthe greatest final minute of any song ever?
ОтветитьJust saw the Beths for a 2nd time in less than a year. They are the REAL DEAL!
ОтветитьThis is a song that sticks with you, and I know that, because the "most played" bump in the video is spang at the start.
I love you all.
Perfect (and tragic) bookend for Jump Rope Gazers. 😢
Perfect.
... can't stop, can't rewind ... how does it feel ... shitty? But love this song. An anthem for Generation X.
ОтветитьI'm a year late to the comment party but I just discovered their music about five days ago. Goosebumps, chills, and for the four minutes and eleven seconds of this video, the entire world around me disappeared. This is the divine art of songwriting at its very best.
ОтветитьLove it!!! 😍😍🥰🥰 (I came from "Select Music"...)
ОтветитьI have listened to this song so many times, It is one of those things that existed before set down to ink. The Beths are too young to tarry in this lane. I hope each of them all the love they deserve for the fine series of records they have given us.. Me, in my sixties, this song changed what I did and said today and tomorrow. Thank you.
ОтветитьI’m glad this song got the recognition and love it deserves. Loved it from the start.
ОтветитьCan we erase our history
Is it as easy as this
Plausible deniability
I swear I've never heard of it
And I can close the door on us
But the room still exists
And I know you're in it
Hours of phrases I've memorized
Thousands of lines on the page
All of my notes in a desolate pile
I haven't touched in an age
And I can burn the evidence
But I can't burn the pain
And I can't forget it
How does it feel? (How does it feel?)
To be an expert in a dying field
And how do you know? (How do you know?)
It's over when you can't let go
You can't let go, you can't stop, can't rewind
Love is learned over time
'Til you're an expert in a dying field
The city is painted with memory
The water will never run clear
The birds and the bees and the flowers and trees
They know that we've both been here
And I can flee the country
For the worst of the year
But I'll come back to it
How does it feel? (How does it feel?)
To be an expert in a dying field
And how do you know? (How do you know?)
It's over when you can't let go
You can't let go, you can't stop, can't rewind
Love is learned over time
'Til you're an expert in a dying field
Can we erase our history
Is it as easy as this
Maybe in other realities
The road never took this twist
And I can close the door on us
But the room still exists
How does it feel? (how does it feel, does it feel?)
(Expert in a dying field)
How do you know (how do you, how do you, how do you feel?)
Can't stop, can't rewind
Love is learned over time
'Til you're an expert in a dying field, ah
An expert in a dying field
This song demonstrates why I love pop so much.
ОтветитьA rhythm-matching version in Portuguese:
Apagar nossa historia
Sera que e tao facil assim?
Negacao plausivel
Eu juro que eu nunca ouvi
E eu posso fechar a porta entre nos mas o quarto fica ai e voce esta nele
Horas de frases que eu decorei
Milhares de linhas a ler
Um monte de notas em desordem
Que ha anos eu nem toquei
E eu posso queimar as evidencias
Mas eu nao perco a dor e eu nao esqueco
Qual a sensacao?
Ser perito num campo que sumiu?
E qual a indicacao?
Que ja acabou se nao pode soltar?
Nao pode soltar, nao pode parar nem voltar
Aos poucos se aprende a amar
A ser perito num campo que sumiu
A cidade e pintada de lembrancas
A agua nunca sera clara
As aves, abelhas, flores e arvores nos vigiaram aqui
E eu posso fugir do pais na pior parte do ano mas irei voltar
Qual a sensacao?
Ser perito num campo que sumiu?
E qual a indicacao?
Que ja acabou se nao pode soltar?
Nao pode soltar, nao pode parar nem voltar
Aos poucos se aprende a amar
A ser perito num campo que sumiu
Apagar nossa historia
Sera que e tao facil assim?
Talvez em outras realidades
O caminho nao chegasse aqui
E eu posso fechar a porta entre nos mas o quarto fica ai
Qual a sensacao?
Qual a indicacao?
Nao pode parar nem voltar
Aos poucos se aprende a amar
A ser perito num campo que sumiu
Perito num campo que sumiu
I want that mug
