I love Audio Technica, I will defend their condenser mics even though I've been using Neumann for about a year now. BUT that being said, I can't use the AT2040. Even with EQ I can't get it to sound good, no matter what. It's super disappointing because I really wanted to like it, but I just can't
ОтветитьI just bought the audio technica hope it sounds good thank you for the video bro
Ответитьis a mixer necessary? i was thinking just getting a mic.
ОтветитьAT2040 vs Donner PO8 or FiFine k688
ОтветитьHello! Thank you for your great review! I´ve purchased my Podmic (will arrive on monday), but I started seeing some reviews comparing with this AT2040. Do you think it´s better for me to change my order? I will use the mic for voice over and singing (I don´t have a treated room). What´s your opinion? Thank you in advance.
ОтветитьDo the sterling h224, think this beats the focusrite in cost to performance. You can find it for 80$ rn too
ОтветитьBattle of the thick and thin. For my voice, the AT2040 would win out. But short of an A/B comparison, I don't think anyone will complain about the sound of either one.
Ответитьi absolutely waiting the update of this video with the new podmic usb and the new at2040 usb !! 😊
ОтветитьNice wordplay at the beginning.
Not budget though for 100$
Nice review as always. Now I'm torn between the AT2040 vs the New PodMic USB. I prefer the sound of the At2040 but I love that the new PodMic is USB + XLR. I really want a dynamic mic with USB C. Is any other options for me? Thanks in Advance.
ОтветитьThank you for this comparison, Now I thinking of purchasing the At2040. But may I know what software/app are you using for recording the voice?
ОтветитьAudio technica def sounded better
Ответитьthank you for the amazing video!! what's a good budget audio interface to go with one of these two mics?
ОтветитьThe SE V7 sounds MUCH better than both of them.
ОтветитьCan I use the Klark Teknik booster just like the cloudlifter with the booster in the middle of two cables? I really hate how bulky looks my microphone on camera connected directly to the mic, I mean something like this chain FOCUSRITE<--->CABLE<--->KLARK--->CABLE<--->MICROPHONE
ОтветитьAT 2040 for sure.
Ответить"this is what a nerdy white guy in his thirties sounds like." :D
ОтветитьAlways good information Tom You are the best
ОтветитьGreat review, super helpful in making a decision. Thanks Tom.
ОтветитьFor the value of money. At2040 is okey for me. Only72$ in Shoppee
ОтветитьThe best Vs battle I was just considering these two
ОтветитьWell I've owned the Podmic for 3 or 4 years and love it. Today I bought the AT2040 and can't wait to run it through the paces. I cry every time I hear the American prices. Both mics retail at AUD$169.
ОтветитьOh man I'm gonna say the Rode podmic dunks the AT2040 ! Although, the AT2020(condenser) is a better option then both imo.
ОтветитьSo many people saying the AT2040 sounds better, no way lol. Watching other comparison videos it's so easy to tell the Podmic just sounds so much more clean.
ОтветитьTo me the AT2040 sounds much better
ОтветитьI love the puns! New subscriber here sir... thanks for this... looking into the market for budget mics =) this is a big help... leaning towards the at2040 =)
ОтветитьWoW Tom you have the cheesiest chokes but we love what you do! You are awesome!
ОтветитьI know this is an older video but do you think the 2040 would need the cloud lifter on the Rodecaster pro II? I have mine coming in on Monday and was considering the AT2040. I guess even a step further, do you feel the sound of either of these is different on the Rodecaster Pro II compared to when you did this review?
ОтветитьWhat’s the difference in the usb and audio interface options
ОтветитьPrice for the Pod Mic?
Ответитьprice for AT2040 pls?
Ответитьdo you happen to have an updated video with the new Rodecaster Pro II? I just pre ordered one and now I'm in that stage of looking for a microphone lol! the only mic I have is a TC Helicon MP-60 which is connected to my TC Helicon VoiceLive Touch and it's sound OK lol!
ОтветитьThese are super close. The AT feels a bit richer to me, but it's muddled on the top end. The Podmic feels like it has slightly better range.
ОтветитьFor you, who is best suited for voice overs?
rode pod mic
at2040
For you, who is best suited for voice overs?
rode pod mic
at2040
The AT2040 is the more robust sounding mic. Thanks for the review. (The Cloud Lifter definitely does it thing!!)
ОтветитьThis was so informative! I was debating between the AT2040 and the PodMic and your video gave me great insight into the characteristics of the microphones :). I could really hear a difference in the low end of the AT2040 through my headphones and speakers! Using a pair of Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250Ohms/ Big tall boy floor standing speakers and PSB Image C4 Center Channel.
ОтветитьIve never heard either in person, but from this video, I'd say that
if you're reading Jack and the beanstock for your audience, use the podmic. Its perfect for cleanly spoken dialog.
But when its time for the FE FI FO FUM part, switch to the 2040.
I spoke to a guy this week who says he uses his podmic as a kick drum mic. He says its more focused than his beta52 or d6.
the microphones are like night and day so mucch more dynamic range on the AT ....listening on a pair of ADAM A7X running thru a gen1 UR22
ОтветитьHere in Brazil both microfones are in the same range of price. I think that audio Technica is better. Great video!
ОтветитьThey really smoothed out that scarecrow joke.
Ответитьin my area, the podmic is 150 bucks. oh, well...
ОтветитьIt sounds a lot better w the cloudlifter, I use an SM58, I think I need to get a cloudlifter
ОтветитьI've been watching reviews and comparisons between these two mics for the past 3 days and still can't decide what would be a better choice, lol.
Quick background: I work as a software engineer and, as I've been involved in a lot of calls lately, I decided to upgrade my microphone to something that would sound more professional and clear. For that, I'd say the Podmic is a clear winner.
But, I also need good noise rejection (especially for the hums from my computer and typing on the keyboard) and shock protection, because I tend to tap a bit harder, sometimes. It seems like the AT2040 is better at this, but is it worth to trade the PodMic's sound quality for these features?
I too have a more nasally mid-heavy voice and I'd like to counter that as much as I can, to sound more clear. I will be using a boom arm and pop-filter as well, because I am used to having the microphone close to the mouth (so I don't need to shout, haha), so the proximity effect will be rather present.
Which mic you think would be recommend in this use case?
rode sounded nasally
ОтветитьThe AT2040 just bothers my ears and might not EQ into something useable. The PodMic seems rather transparent and will probably EQ into whatever I want it to be.
ОтветитьSuch an excellent review video. 👏 Thank you! 😃💯🎙️ Enjoy your quality setup, little jokes, and free tips to save some cash.
ОтветитьHoly shit these dad jokes are gold lol
ОтветитьTom reminds me of Phil Dumphey from Modern Family and I love it lol
