I have had Dreams of Gaia on my wish list for many years but this video has made me realise I would never reach for it.

I think I only really wanted it because of another tarot-tuber who spoke so highly of it and I thought it would make me cool by association.

When in reality...owning the same deck as a complete stranger means diddly squat. Their cool ain't rubbing off onto me across the cosmos unfortunately.

I have now mentally removed it from my wish list...so Thank You!

Also...that geese flying in the wrong v formation card from Tarot of Tales would irritate me massively too.

totally agreee with the oceanus arcane - the art is wonderful but i find it too dark ( as in colour ) and I never bonded with them. I am just keeping it as an art study. I love your videos they are creative and have a lot of heart

I have EXACTLY the same reaction about the shadowscapes deck. Love the art but NOTHING in the readings. I even got the Czech version to have bigger images and still ....nothing. I just want to keep it as a collection piece but who has the space for that?!

I know exactly what you mean about Shadowscapes. I love, love, love the art but it's way too much detail packed into a small space, and the cards end up all looking the same when viewed together. I really only use it for meditation/journaling and not for spreads.

I was called to look into the Tarot of Tales, 10 of swords, in traditional rws meaning, it could represent the end of a situation, or a long standing pattern, so the geese would not be flying in a traditional configuration? I do that sometimes...look stuff up...I blame my mother...

Theres quite a few decks shown that I also struggled with. I thought I was the only one who didn't connect with shadowscapes..🥴

I am so mad at the Grounded Wisdom. The AI slop is so far from the concept it claims to be about. I don't even feel okay passing it on, I think I need to bin it.

Hi Sylvie, I am on that same boat, I backed so many decks on Kickstarter, I am so embarrassed to say still waiting on so many that I back since last year. One just used the excuse of the tariff's, but they took the funds and used on a previous fundraiser and tried sending out this heart felt messages, I just racked that one up to a loss and they have not responded to any messages or updated 442 backers of that campaign. I pulled back on Kickstarter for a few reasons. I have gotten decks and wished what was this, or that does not seem like what I was remembering on backing, some I was just soooooo disappointed. Some decks I purchased from Etsy also, just not my thing. And no refunds. So, I am working on posting to Ebay and facebook groups, not much interest in what I am trying to release.
I am very sorry you had to experience the disappointment of the last deck you showed. Those backs would have really annoyed me too. I am moving oracles out only for I do not connect or get anything from them. I have a box of decks I am trying to move. Maybe I have grown, changed and some of my decks I moved towards are decks I thought I would never buy or use. Thank you for sharing...😀

I like this concept. Not every deck is for everyone. I agree with a lot of your choices. When I first started collecting, I followed the hype. Now I know what I like and need in a deck and if they don’t meet those needs, it doesn’t get bought. Kickstarter scares me for the reason you stated. It’s always a gamble. I’m more of a mass market deck collector. Thank you for sharing your hot takes ❤

Oceana looks amazing. It happens to me with Shadowscapes that the details are very small and I cannot see them anymore, so... but I have a lot of decks I don't use, but I bought them for the art and there are others that have favorite cards but the deck is meh

Kind of glad you brought up the Starseed issue with Rebecca Campbell. For a community that so often claims it desires ostensibly human rights-oriented traits in our decks like diversity, it’s always rubbed me the wrong way that people seem to ignore the extremely questionable origins and ideology surrounding things like Starseeds and Pleiadians.

Woven path tarot is stunning! I’ve never seen that one before. I’ll have to look more into it. It would fit in with my other decks. I’m assuming it’s probably hard to find now though.
I do have a couple decks that are hard for me to read with so I do get what you’re saying. It’s hard to know what decks click and what ones don’t until you use them.

The last deck was awful. I don’t understand the choices the creator made. I agree it should have been a major only deck.

The Goliath Tarot is my biggest regret. I realised too late that some of the cards are not genuine, but too closely "inspired" by cards in other decks (Tarot of the Orishas, The Wild Unknown...) It was so disappointing and sad.

I agree with many of the Tarot of Tales odd choices in the drawings…yet I love it so much!! It’s a forever deck for me, a very loud talker.

This is how I feel about the Tabula Mundi. I feel like all the cool, scholarly tarotists love it, so I want to love it. But that Golden Dawn esotericism really doesn't click for me. I prefer using tarot to unlock my own intuition. I really regret getting it especially cause it's indie, but maybe one day I'll build a relationship with it

I am so glad what you said about the Shadowscapes and Dreams of Gia. I was feeling obligated to "like" and need those decks. It made me feel given permission to have a different opinion. Also, ME TOO, I love the guidebooks. I get so much with the different viewpoints. An example of a fav of mine is the FLOW TAROT (if I had a channel that would be a category: top best guidebooks). Also, I feel fairly satiated with my collection at this moment. Good call.

I love the art style of Rebecca Campbell's decks (Danille Noel & Katie Louise) but some of the explanations are very out-there. I am aways exremely nervous of any system that makes people think that they are in some way superior to the rest of humanity and I get that vibe from numerous cards.

About your Dreams of Gaia Tarot: It appears you've got there the older version that has the shinnier card stock. If you decide to get this deck back some day in the future you might find harder to find this version. The new mas-market version has that matte, almost rose petal card stock where the cards simply "stay together". Don't literally "stick together" but certainly harder to shuffler. Also the colours don't pop that nicely on that matte stock .... I have both, they feel and look like two different decks to me.... Just saying ....

Generative AI in tarot decks is absolutely disgraceful. I'm soo happy to see the entire Tarot community completely rejecting that deck and calling out the person who sold it for openly lying to their supporters. We should always have this reaction with generative AI so these people understand that we do not want that and that we will not support that. So happy to see you talk about this 👏

Yes, I agree. We like styles or images. We think were open to all styles but aren't really. At least in my case. And yes we buy many decks that are similar.its hard to realize this before purchasing. So I will have to do a clean up in my decks as well & let some go. Really happy you brought this subject up. I don't know if I'm the only one like this, but I find my choice & taste for decks has changed alot. Thanks

Love this framing of the topic. I think anymore it’s even trickier than it used to be to navigate since you have to research everything so deeply to see if there’s AI or other questionable moving parts. I want to know what I’m signing on for up front. I’m typically someone who agonizes over my deck purchases mostly cuz I can’t afford to have it all. Usually this means I end up with decks I love. There are a couple impulse purchases which have ended up being the decks I’m hard pass on. I tried to get on the Rebecca Campbell train too and I cannot with that deck. They did design those boxes to be a card holder which I like in theory and less in practice. Idk why I bought it. I knew I wouldn’t like it and it’s so not me. The other deck that I really want to like but just can’t is the Otherkin. It’s really pretty but idk wtf I was thinking. I can’t with white space backgrounds and there’s just so much of it. I’ve tried to work with it, but there’s so much space. Luckily those are MM so not a huge investment. I’m sure I have more, but can’t think of any rn. Thanks for sharing this! ❤

I also don't like photos of people on decks, I can't get past seeing the person instead of letting my imagination run. Then there's the green witch tarot. Anne moura didn't have a deck out when she released her tarot book and I loved it, it was one of the first tarot books I ever read. So I was stoked when I heard she was coming out with a deck. The artwork is beautiful, I love that she has specific reasons for each animal and plant on each card, but I can't seem to get past the 8 of wands. The description in the guidebook fits typical meaning but the image, though nice, makes no sense. It's a girl sitting on like a picnic blanket in a meadow with the wands laid out on the blanket. It's so static and relaxed that it just kinda throws the whole thing off for me. Not sure why one card can irk me so much as to ruin the whole thing

Oh I am now so mad right along with you about that last deck...I don't mind if a deck diverts from classic tarot if it has good reasoning and explains it. But this deck just looks lazy...or like a last minute panic to just get a deck out? I've backed 3 kickstarters recently...for the first time...I am really hoping they deliver what has been promised having seen this!

I love Shadowscapes...only got it very recently so haven't used it a whole lot. Will be interesting to see how it works.

Oh my. Where do I even start! I have two tarot decks that I have found it hard to click with - the Oriens Animal Tarot by Ambi Sun and the Midnight Magic Tarot by Sara Richard. I bought these two decks because I loved the artwork, but I haven’t really clicked with them and I don’t really reach for them when I am doing a reading, I wouldn’t use them for a client reading either because I think it would just cause some confusion. What I do like about them (apart from the artwork) is that both creators go into some detail about why they have picked the animal or mushroom that they have for that card. I think I just need to work with them more before I decide whether to pass them on. I also didn’t gel with Yasmin Boland’s Moonology Messages Oracle. I do like her Moonology Manifestation Oracle cards & I use them for nearly every moon ritual I do. I have another deck by Ravynne Phelan called Messenger Oracle. I don’t use it very often but I love some of the animal artwork in it, so it never gets culled. Lastly I have just recently purchased the Wise Woman Oracle by Cheyenne Zarate. I bought it because it is green and green is my favourite colour but I am having such a hard time resonating with it when I use it. I’ve decided to use it for a daily draw for a month and see if we settle into some kind of relationship, otherwise it will be culled. I have the same problem as you with the Rebecca Campbell decks. I have the two you have and the Ancient Stones deck which I prefer over the other two. Both decks have been put in the cull pile often but I always pull them back out for some reason but now I resonate more with the Ancient Stones deck I think they will go in the next declutter. I noticed some people mentioning that decks don’t sell very well on facebook, etc. I have found that they do take some time to sell, but just persevere and don’t ask for lots of money for them, unless they are brand new or a collectors edition. I’ve decluttered my collection a few times and I know I have to be prepared to be patient and take lots of photos of the decks, so people can see what they are getting. 😊 Oh and one last thing, I hate decks that are AI created and I refuse to give my money to an “artist” that has used AI to create their deck. I accidentally purchased a Lenormand deck that was created with AI and it has really tainted that deck to the point where I never use it. I want a deck that has had love, and courage and creativeness and the artist’s energy put into it. AI decks just don’t give you that. Nice video. 😊

The ShadowScapes tarot is one of my favorite decks but I can definitely see it not being for everyone cause OML those cards are wicked detailed but its so fine. And she is coming out with the Dream Dance ORacle.

Agree 100% with everything you said about Grounded Wisdom. I was so mad at what the unboxings I saw on YT last year that I didn't even open my own copy until last week. Nope, still mad. Don't know what to do with it either.

The rain coast tarot looks really cool. I’d trim the words and borders off. That might help it a bit.
