Bringing a couple helpers in the Wild as an IM for MA2 is fine, IMO. You're still open for anyone to attack you, your allies could even turn on you if they don't value your friendship. The whole idea of Ironman is that it's playing a multiplayer game in single player. Of course, you can't just be immune to PK'ers in the Wild, but when multiplayer interference is unavoidable, I'd say it's OK to take any advantage the game gives you to negate that.

HCIM is more about how far you can make it in the game pvm wise opposed to having it ruined by some toxic pkers so use all the wilderness protection you need, I do too :P

When doing shamans in the temple, the first room u come to if u stay on the southern and western walls the shamans cant jump, so u should be able to rol out just from the purple minions if u dc/lagg again
