Lectio Divina is good, however let's not discount that God does talk to us in other ways. St Paul went into the desert for three years and was given the Gospel by Jesus Christ. How did that happen? There was no New Testament at that time, it hadn't been written. Did St Paul take the Torah scrolls with him into the desert? I don't think so. So then, how did Jesus speak the Gospel message to St Paul to where afterwards, St Paul went to the Apostles and asked if his Gospel was true.

I love the mystics. It is they who remind us that God is present. God is real. And if we come as a child, He will speak. We don't need Latin. We don't need to be a doctor of the Church, and we don't need to be an academic. Simply an open heart, an open mind, and trust that God wants to speak to His children. Act as if it has already been granted to you and you will enter the throne room of the King.

You never answered your headline , how to hear Gods voice . You refer to tradition and what others said , it seems you do not know yourself . God is Spirit and we have to be reconciled to the father through Jesus Christ Savior and Lord . The Holy Spirit is then communicating to our spirit . We can worship God only in Spirit and in Truth .

Dr. Gray convincingly points us to hearing God speak through Scripture. A very moving exhortation to listen to a God who thirsts to love us.

Latin is the language of The Church and it's the Sacred language of Christianity along with Hebrew and Greek because they were on the Cross. I love the way Fr. Chad Ripperger said it, they are affixed to our salvation.

I enjoyed prayer when i used to think it accomplished something. Now i just hope there will be some payback when i die. Its supposed to make you feel joyful, or at least i thought that, but it doesn't.

With so much hatred and division and wars that religions have given the world any wonder people dont want organised religions. Even Buddhists have been involved in war.

Now in my sixities, I returned to the Church. Prayer is something that I look forward to and the Holy Spirit has revealed much to me, so prayer isn't really dry for the most part. I see this as a mercy extended to me because I needed this contact desperately, the Lord knew and gave me this Grace. When I don't feel a strong presence, the Holy Spirit compels to deep soul searching and that was the most difficult struggle I've ever dealt with but it needed to be done. To be Christian requires sweat equity. I also was compelled to pray for greater obedience and if prayer seems dry or prayers don't seem to be answered then obedience comes into play. I could almost characterize it as obedience/faith are flip sides of the same coin.
