Everyone talking bout how Orochimaru was the strongest of the 3 Legendary Ninjas but Orochimaru could not use Sage mode he created the curse seal from studying Jugo. Orochimaru may have been the strongest in their youth but was not the strongest by the end of the story . As the Anime stated if you can use Sage Mode you are on a level on your own. Jiraiya was the strongest of the Sannin.

Fun fact many people will make the point that Itachi was lying because he loved the leaf village, he actually cared about Naruto or remember how he is a Spy and so will not let Akatsuki take Naruto that easily well REALITY CHECK this episode is way before from the time naruto as a series was extended and then the idea of Itachi being good was introduced.

Believe me even I researched this myself because when I read the point of people why Itachi would lie it even seemed possible to me but it turns out it is not and Itachi was being true in that conversation.

* He was known to be the 3rd Highest Number of Jutsus known by a Shobi (1st Place goes to Lord 3rd Hokage whose nickname was The Professor, 2nd goes to Oruchimaru and yaa the 4th place goes to 2nd Hokage), remember how Kakashi flaunted he knew a 1000 jutsus but that was with a sharingan however this guy knew more than 2000 jutsus (Imagine how much overpowered he would have been if he was revived in the war which is why he was not).

* This guy roamed all the 5 Nations and even rival nations all alone and without a disguise just announcing his Name every place he when and still no one dared touch him since a nations worth of Army would have been needed just to make the odds even.

* You know how it was such a big thing in the show when Naruto learned Rasen-shuriken and kakashi said No One ever achived it and Naruto was the first one which is why he said he now exceeded Minato, well the truth is it has already been done in the past and by none other than our Jiraya boy who created the Mixture of wind style rasengan with Fire element which by the way burns anything it touches without a trace which was so overpowered and dangerous that he chose to never use it the span of entire series.

Also Yes it has been confirmed by the writer that both Jiraya and Itachi were on same level (even in the official handbook) however he was also right when he said the Outcome (both sides would die) would not change even if they had more Akatsuki members there to help because Jiraya is Jiraya so if they had jumped him even in numbers he would have died but he would have destroyed a large range and then all of them with him.

He just truly is that cool, don’t forget how smart he is just because he acts like an idiot remember how he was the only one who figured out who Boruto and Sasuke were when they traveled to past. Believe me when I say he truly is a GOAT.
