Would of made a decent estate as they have no interesting wagons anymore unless your spending £40k+
ОтветитьThis model really did have a quiet unveiling when it could have had more of a press launch. Looks a great all round car for the masses, call it the people car if you will 😬. I only wish they would badge the cars as R Line.
ОтветитьGreat video again Andrew! 👌, this model does rather intrigue me tbh!
FYI, the product code for the front discs on the 245 GTI is [ 1LG ] these have a diameter of 340mm, not 312mm. 🙂
Seems to me it’s a parts bin special or maybe VW are testing the water for the MK8.5
ОтветитьGreat video Andrew.👍
ОтветитьRare? It’s a Boggo golf with no real appeal whatsoever
Vw needs to stop with all this electric nonsense and get back to making powerful petrol cars that sound nice
Hi Andrew. Followed the Mk8 highs and lows same time you had your CS. You guided me through its "foibles" but it's still a great drive, to me anyway. Yup, shame about the IT etc but the Mk8.5 is like mine but a bigger interface screen sans gremlins.Well, at almost 50K not for me.
ОтветитьLooks really basic.. Rather have my GTD 7.5 ❤
ОтветитьGreat review as always..
ОтветитьHave had my GTI 8 for almost 2 yrs now, alot of hate for them over the internet, but unless you own one, only then will you understand how dynamically well they drive, especially now that i have just put a set of Bridgestone Potenza Sports on it replacing the terrible Hankook ones
Definitely the best handling GTI i have ever owned
Wish they didn’t stop making the manuals
Ответитьkinda surprised they allow you to put it up on a ramp, what if you damaged it?
ОтветитьBlack is much better
ОтветитьI bought a used GTi about 6 months ago (love it btw) and these were just coming onto the market. I fancied testing a 2.0 tsi one, but only found about 3 for sale in the country and all had the smaller engine
ОтветитьI think Australia gets the Mk8.5 next year. But supply will be a factor and price also. Mk8 still fetching over $63k, if you could find one. And I don't want to. I like the moonstone grey. But actually purchasing one. No thanks.
ОтветитьGreat review Andrew - this drivetrain used in A3 40 TFSI in Oz along with 1.5 in A35 - I’d be ,ore interested if more bhp as 140kw from a 2.0 turbo engine in 2024 is underwhelming and not sure 320nm of torque compensates when GTI has 370nm however AWD is the big gain here especially on slippery winter roads
ОтветитьI have the rline in same colour prefer the diamond cut wheels. All black look like had a cheap refurb, great vid and statement best golf ever.
ОтветитьNearly £40k😂😂. Seriously?
ОтветитьShame these were not produced for mk7 and 7.5 like Audi did with the A3 8V Quattro. Nice stealth alternative to an S3
ОтветитьIt's a VW, so it's tedious, unreliable shite. That's all you need to know. 😂
ОтветитьEffectively this is an Audi A3 2.0 Quattro 8V.
ОтветитьWas waiting for someone to review this. Good Job!
ОтветитьI've really warmed to the mk8 now. I'd buy one
ОтветитьMy wife has had this running gear in her T roc for 5 years, she likes it. Does this use the gen B engine that uses the Budack (Miller) cycle for valve opening and closing ? It's the econo version of the EA888. Runs out of turbo early though and pointless holding on to gears. I can't see a MAF sensor on this though, so it may just be a detuned EA888.
ОтветитьI’m a few months away from purchasing. I’m interested in a 7.5 performance pack or R. I’d need to check insurance cost on the R.
Do you still sell cars? If not is there anywhere you’d recommend to purchase one? I’ve got a polo worth between 8 and 9 k. I think I have about 4 k in savings with a few months around September have another 3 to 4 k saved. If there’s any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated
I havent got time for fake versions of fast cars
ОтветитьI bought a Golf 8 1.5 TSi recently (my 4th Golf in total) and I would love to get my hands on this Black edition! It looks beautiful! One to look out for 4 sure! ❤❤❤
ОтветитьWhat a great car ! Would be the perfect upgrade from my Golf 8 1.5 eTSI with DCC. Best option I ticked, along with iQ light. The 1.5 has plenty of liveliness but doesn’t like higher rpms.
Cheers, Tom
Mk 7.5 will always be the peak ICE GTI, powerful, tuneable, physical buttons.
ОтветитьGreat comprehensive video again. Look forward to you getting your hands on a 8.5

ОтветитьGood review, looks as if it’s a “best” all rounder Golf. They still sell Golfs by the bucket load, although maybe a year old S3 might be a sweeter spot.
ОтветитьInterested in this review specifically because my formentor is a 190 4WD set up, and most Formentor reviews are 150 or the 310. Would be good to learn more about what the E888 190 engine is in relation to its more powerful offerings.
Ответитьits strange how VW could make the m8 so damn ugly, im sure it drives good but that damn look on that car just make me think... hell nooo
ОтветитьGot the black pack on my 24 T-Roc R line and that too has the fake exhausts in black rather than chrome….thankfully
Ответить38k for a run of the mill Golf. Who’s buying that really?
ОтветитьMy parents had almost a full spec one on order, AWD, 190ps, Pano, winter, etc.
There own words were "We bought the GTD because it was the same spec but had the IQ headlights, it's a shame the option wasn't there for this model".
It's amazing that VW havent allowed this option on more model as in today's world of "headlight wars" that manufactures seem to be pushing, a lot of people take this into consideration.
They did test the car and said it drove really smoothly and was quite fun, although they are used to the engine and gearbox from there Tiguan R Line Tech with the same running gear.
Crazy how much really obvious cost cutting has been applied to the back seating area! Almost seems like a different trim level in the back compared to the front. Saying that I’m still not keen on the front area or the mk8 in general.
Ответитьlooks like it arrived at VW Tunbridge Wells.. (just under £39k)
ОтветитьA great review of a Golf model that I never knew existed. What lovely well rounded package this car is 😍
Ответить36k 4 a 1.5tsi 😂😂😂bag of shite just buy the full fat golf r not the wanna be 4 simlar price
ОтветитьIn haldex 6gen,like in this video and audi s3 8y etc, there is no ECU module.Haldex pump its ecu control unit.
ОтветитьVW should have made the UP! R.
ОтветитьHopefully the price does fall
ОтветитьGTI 8 245 hp share same discs 340mm and callipers size with Mk 7 GTI club sport / S , 7.5 GTI performance, TCR , Golf 7 / 7.5 R and T Rock R . You can also retrofit Golf 8/8.5 GTI CS / R discs and calipers on Golf 8 /8.5 GTI 245 & 265 hp .
ОтветитьThe grey has always looked good, you are just a bit slow to the party and have very questionable taste and opinions.
Glad you finally woke up. And no, this is nowhere near the best Mk8. Click-baity BS.
What’s the economy like comparing to your club sport?
ОтветитьTracked this actual Black Edition down and took delivery earlier this week, great Golf more than happy. Now a two MK8 Golf family (both DCC) Great cars
