Hi, I currently use this to capture my 1080 syntesia piano screen recording. It can't capture 4k maybe as I have an old laptop 2016.
I will buy a new 32ram & 11gb nvidia feforce rtx 2080 graphics card pc with 4k monitor.
Is it nessary to add "elgato game capture card 4k60" needed for capturing this synthesia piano in 4k?
I need to know as its 200£ for this capture card & cryptic if i need it or not.
I don't do gaming at all, i only need to screen capture 4k on the piano synthesia

NEVER select mp4. ALWAYS remux recordings after. Reason being: If your recording stops half way on mp4 you will lose the entire recording. If your OBS freezes up or gets stuck on "stop recording", you will lose your entire recording. If you record in MKV or FLK you will still have whatever recording it has recorded so far. Remux recording virtually does not lose any quality. It's just better to remux, and anyone worth their salt knows this.

cool, now no matter what i set my settings to, after following along and trying it out, my game play now looks super shitty and grainy. it runs fine but dam its hard to look at. how do i fix this? im kinda pissed

Just like the other comments, I was initially rolling my eyes at having to watch a seven minute long video for some settings, but I followed along and don't regret it. He doesn't fluff the video up with a bunch of nonsense. It's all info that's good to have. Great job, man. Keep it up.

i want ps5 4k record but sometimes fps dropped in in some action games x264 record, i changed like you said nvidia nvenc i have 2080Ti, but this bitrate 40k or 60k too much for my upload, even if I record for half an hour, it costs 25gb minimum, takes 20 hours to upload, I dropped the bitrate to 15k for record 4k, not bad. what would you suggest for that?

When you say high end, would this include a 3070 with 5600x? Im using 40000 -60000 bitrate for recording my 4k facecam and 4k game, could I bunp to 65000 - 100000?

Unless you're playing games that are not mostly still images or low motion games, don't enable Lookahead. It will increase your file size for no reason.
