A very interesting detail I find is that the worms are also in Playdead's previous game, Limbo. Well, not exactly 1:1 but Limbo features worm/maggot creatures that attach to your head and start controlling you to try and kill yourself and you have to fight to avoid hurling yourself into hazards.
