Or you could put tape over a raw magnet if it's all you have and are concerned about scratching a nice finish.

this worked but wont work now that I removed the battery from the bottom of the dish

I was like, "Get outa heeeere." But, I have one of those magnetic parts bowls so I tried it. By gosh it works! I magnetized a scewdriver I didn't want magnetized! 🥴 Anyway, now I can stop shopping for a magnetized screwdriver. BTW, to "unmagnetize" a screwdriver you slide the screwdriver along the "edge" of a magnet. It took me a few attempts to get it fully unmagnetized, but I got it done.

Oh my goodness. I had no idea what that thing was. That was sticking on the side of my refrigerator. My daughter moved in with me and stuck it up there and it has screws inside it. Magnetized. Lol thank you so much for this. I'm trying to put back together my vacuum cleaner and where the screw needs to go is really tricky. Thank you again!
