This short exercise is a great way to help your dancers get grounded and relieve anxiety and performance anxiety. We use proprioception (knowledge of where you are in space) and interoception (feeling the sensations in your body) to help dancers connect to the ground. Grounding is important for helping dancers find stability, strength in their placement, and relief from anxiety. Meditation, body scan, and visualization helps dancers to get grounded and is useful for performance and classroom success.
