I like beads but I have a black truck that sits outside. So when it rains it beads up great but it dries and leaves water spots. So i have to always go and take care of those at least 1-2 times a week. Oh I live in georgia and it rains about twice a week.

I like them both! I love seeing the beading but I also love to see it just sheet right off! Your car’s hydrophobics are insane 😮I love watching you rinse off your car! Great job 👏 as usual my friend! I love these new uploads!

It seems that sheeting would eventually lead to large areas of evaporated deposits on the hood, roof, etc... - where, though the bead mineral patterns might not be there, you'd have large dull flat areas of etched clearcoat.

ive applied 3 year diy coating a few months ago, it bead and sheets okay, becide the windshied where performance of beading degraded to the point where I have to use wiper blades in rain going 120 kmh... but the worstbof all is after rain the car is all dotted up from pollen that was collected by water beads and evaporated. I dont know if the coating sucks or I did something wrong. probably in around a year Ill polish that one off and try your 8 year coating instead if it proves to hold up atleast that.

In my opinion, water behavior is overrated in detailing! I just want products that bring a good shine and are somewhat easy to apply.
I don’t get any satisfaction seeing tiny beads on my car. It’s going to need a wash after the tiniest amount of rain anyway.

I would buy a gallon right now of any ceramic spray that lasted lets say 30 days and SHEETED. That would be an innovation worth having 100 percent. IMO king of all kings would be a true ceramic with 3 year durability that sheets. Many people, I would even wager a huge majority cant or dont get to park their cars in garages these days and a cermic that lasts and sheets would result in those cars looking so much better for so much longer IMO. In the 80s when sheeting was attempted....everything was boxy and flat. Today nothing is boxy and flat on cars so I don't think pooling would be an issue which I am sure someone will bring up because back then it was a legit concern due to how vehicles were made

awesome video as always.
i finally got my GR Yaris last week and washed it with carpro descale two times already. somehow it still looks like theres a coating on it. is that normal?
i know that theres no coating on it because i work there myself and did not wanted the car to get detailed.
my thinking was maybe after immolube and claybar the paint, it will go away?
also i have white stains on the roof wrap. maybe from transport. i tried all kinds of cleaners, but nothing helps. maybe you have an idea?
people like how clean my car looks after washing. thanks to you pan <3

I love beading, i use 303 graphene spray coating and i get crazy beads, i dry my car after every wash, but she sits outside 24/7, i have no garage, so should i be drying my car off every rain storm? The beads usually fly off when i drive it if it has rained, but what if i don't have to drive anywhere after it rains, is it bad to leave the beads on my car?? I know it's an odd question, but i don't want water spots, unless the sealant protects from them?

There is no beading and sheeting. Sheeting is the bad beading.
There, I said it.

You cannot have something that is hydrophobic and hydrophilic at the same time.
The sheeter is the bad beader. In nature only droplets will come on the car, so sheeting never happens.
Now, sheeting is more preferable but beading is the only visual indicator we have that there is something there. So, only beads make sense.

WOW! Pan you always bring the info. I see the difference between beading and sheeting. The beading lets me know that I have a protective coating applied and I like the results. I can use a leaf blower to dry my vehicle quicker. However, I like the sheeting aspects as it leaves less water to dry. I have noticed that if it rains, the water will bead and when my car dries, I will have water spots left and will have to do a rinse and dry to remove the spots. Again your information on this subject helps me keep my DIY maintenance of my vehicles up to date. Thanks MSG Soup

Hi Pan "the detailing Man" always been a beader and always will be as yes it visually much more appealing to my eyes but yeah beading will cause water droplets marks HOWEVER IMHO you will be washing your vehicle regularly once a week maybe once a fortnight and you'll have protected it 1st by whichever is your preferred method so I can't see the issue as surely water mineral deposits will not damage your clear coat if you've protected it 1st and wash your car regularly, after it's rained I always wash and dry my car A.S.A.P so the mineral deposits surely will not have had any real amount of time to damage my clear coat

Great discussion. I'd definitely go for a hybrid solution. I love beading, and I always blow the water off the car when I wash it. But I park it outside most of the time, so when it rains, the beads not only dry and leave stains, but leave dirt spots from all the dirt, dust, pollen, etc. they collected. It's funny, when I see my car outside with lots of beads next to a car that sheets off, I'm proud of the beading, but jealous that their car won't be covered with dirt spots when it dries.

How often in real life does a pitcher of water get poured on a vehicle's paint? Good video, however real world application of water repelling 'tech' demonstration might be worth a deeper dive into after these examples only of how water sits and rolls off vehicle's surfaces. I guess the bottom line is, get that water outta here!

Thanks for the helpful explanations, Pan! I've always thought sheeting sounds like it should be preferable, even though beading is more dramatic. That said, most the sealants/coatings in my cabinet are beading products. 😂

Side note: so happy to see the Clean restock announcement! Ordered my bundle and looking forward to trying them out. Perfect timing since I just ran out of rinseless.

As a former college teacher in marketing, I have to chuckle a bit here. Consumer behavior is part if not all of this. Wash, seal, coat your vehicle - then dry it off. Nothing sexy about it. Who would be the one to judge you? Runaway from this person. Love your channel and content above 95% of all others. Keep up the great work.
