While the desire for digital sovereignty is understandable, the downsides of a truly separate BRICS internet include immense technical hurdles, the risk of a fragmented and less efficient global digital landscape, and potentially increased governmental control and censorship, impacting user freedom and access to information. Be careful what you ask for.

I think this is already happening. BRICS+ only expose its platforms, decisions when they are ready.

New internet has been completed by Dfinty the Internet Computer Protocol a Sovereign Decentralized without censorship or cybercrime.

At the moment, though I hate what is happening with domination of internet systems by companies aligned with the Trump administration, I cannot say I would support an organization dominated by Russia while it occupies Ukrainian territory and seeks to undermine neighbouring democratic countries through mischievous cyber activities.

I believe BRICS may have already started building their own internet, and I think the United Nations needs a major overhauling that's long overdue.
