How Kyle McCord Saved His QB Career (It Looked Over)

Ohio State fan here. I am happy for him. I did not think highly of him in OSU, but he showed me wrong. For last few years I had questions about Ryan Day, OSU head coach, and McCords success makes me wonder more about Day. He always wins many games, but a lot of his games he arrives commanding high end battle ships against fishing boats, and he tends to lose often against teams that are not completely outclassed by talent (OSU has more talent than 99.9999999999 programs, but coach Day seems to struggle with teams that have players with at least 30% as much talent).

Where he should have been all along

Kyle McCord is a loser…..not as a player, but as a person…..any person who would leave his team prior to a Bowl game and not compete has no sense of loyalty to anyone but himself…..now he is playing a mediocre ACC schedule….LOSER….listens to his daddy way too much instead of having integrity!

It wasn’t that “he was deemed not good enough to start at Ohio State anymore”… he wanted to have the starting spot guaranteed for this year and Day wasn’t willing to guarantee that for him. He likely would have been if he stuck around but it just rubbed people the wrong way that he wasn’t willing to compete for it.


I am however happy for him that things are going well at Syracuse. I have since realized that we as Ohio State fans were to hard on him and that Day should probably carry more of the blame for last year. Just not sold on Day at all anymore.. he can get the talent here but he can’t get his ducks lined up when it matters most.

Kyle McCord wasn’t a bad quarterback at Ohio State. He just wasn’t spectacular. His numbers were very solid, and he even had some big moments. Ohio State is just used to Heisman contending quarterbacks over the last decade or so. I’m glad he’s doing well at Syracuse.

I think ohio state made a mistake taking Howard over McCord. Just my opinion

How did his career look over? He had 24 TDs and 6 INTs playing for Ohio State. He led them to an 11-1 regular season with his only loss at Michigan, where he almost led the Buckeyes to a game winning drive.

You thought a guy who was a 5 star QB, who led OSU to a heartbreaking loss and to the doorsteps of the playoff’s career was over?

What did you think he was going to do? Not join the transfer portal and sell penny stocks or drive Uber?

Pretty wild statement.

I wonder what Michigan would give to have McCord as their QB right now.

I wish him the best of luck, but all I can say is he definitely wasn't truly ready for "the big games." As an Ohio state fan, you can have a fantastic year, but all that matters is "the big game" against Michigan. Those interceptions are still hard to think about even now.

i don't know he hasn't played anybody yet i know will howard has had some bad plays like the last one in the oregon game but i think we're better off with howard
