I bought it and returned it in 48 hours. Couldnt find a single capture from anyone i tried that sounded better then the kemper profiles from similar people. Worse then that, i have a whole bunch of pedals ive collected over time and this didnt take them well. I was furious with it 😂

After returning and seeing many more folks praise it, im wondering if mine was faulty. Either way its gone and in the annuls of my gear history now 😂

Exactly. These things sound very close in the mix.Very different when playing thru it. I think they get the frequency and its harmonics , but not the relationship of their phases. It aligns phases that were not aligned to start w.

The kemper is no longer only a capture player. See the liquid profile solution ( that came as free update).

Bass captures sounding good ? What's next, guitarists playing thru a Fender Bassman ? ... In all seriousness an amp's an amp, use it as you like. Jack Cassidy got his great bass sound thru a single ended guitar amp.

Just seems like a very niche product. Is it for gigging guitarists who need extreme portability not offered by the QC, but who also have a collection of (or access to) expensive amps worth capturing?

A lot of people were expecting, or hoping for, an entry level QC. Not everyone has a spare $1500 for a QC, but if Neural came out with a slimmed down version (no touch screen, control it with the existing computer software, less footswitches, maybe less processing power, without the capture tech), that would provide a more attainable entry point to the Neural hardware space. I honestly think that would sell a lot more units than the nano.

I put a op amp w a gain of 10,000 thru my Princeton. A 15 V bad square wave basically.....YEAH it can do Metal ! ...... And, I would have picked it first , actually . I know how it sounds in the Real World and would want to compare. I think Ryan over at 60 cycle hum might pick it first too, his poor Princetons are abused too.

Great video ! Probably a great product, has great sounds. But not the product I wanted. It happens some times, I would have prefered a mini quad cortex, like a neural dsp hx stomp, idgaf about capturing my two amps. Guess I will just keep my money for later

The reality is that people just wanted a smaller quad cortex but with all the same functionality and for half the price. Obviously that was never going to happen but people moan regardless. Dont like it, then don't buy it. Simple

Honestly, I see it as a limited product, the idea of being able to capture in less quality than in other systems does not seem attractive to me, especially when you have spent a lot of money on super expensive tube amplifiers, in which case you spend more and buy the big brother, Then, in case you don't have super expensive tube amplifiers in your house and nothing to capture, an option like Tonex with an ecosystem where people share great captures or where you can purchase paid super pro captures, seems more attractive to the rest. of humanity, and this without taking into account that for the next update they include delay and modulation effects for free. 😊

For app dependent hardware like this, they should build it into the device similar to a modem router and you just connect to its software interface from a web browser which makes it compatible across ALL platforms and won't "expire" anytime in the conceivable future.

I returned the nano because I wanted to use it in a rehearsal and live situation. I captured my preamp, clean and dirty channel so I could switch between the 2 presets. Unfortunately, there is a quick dropout and lag (some call it latency) when switching presets. I have gear that is 35 and 40 years old that when I step on it, it switches immediately with no apparent delay. In 2024, this shouldnt be an issue. I dont want to have to step on a switch a little early and time it just right when Im playing, i want it to be there immediately.
On the other hand, the unit sounded good and if you were gonna leave it on one preset through the entire song, it works great.

I personally don't have a problem using apps to modify presets on units like this or even amps as long as there are iOS versions of them. This is one of the many places where TONEX fails, in my opinion.

The only issue I have with this is Neural claims that the Nano Cortex is made for a live gigging musician. And yet they don't give you the possibility to run one output with a cab sim to FOH and one without to your power amp into a real cab. A dealbreaker for me

MY….OH…..MY…. For well over 8yrs now, we’ve heard political sh!t-slinging towards Trump, from all the fascist, hypocritical, left-wing YT stars (who’d be no one if it wasn’t for a standard less, social media platform…but, I digress). Andertons, 42 Gear Street, Pete Thorn, Spectre Sound Studios, etc, etc.. I don’t know when it happened, but at some point, well-after after 2000, the music industry turned into nothing more than political activism for left-wing politics (right around the time music became nothing but button-pressing, technology…but, again I digress…). Donald Trump just won the biggest landslide in the HISTORY of America. It’s not my nature to “spike the football” (as they say in America), but given that all the usual offenders made it a point ….NO…A F—KING MISSION to shove their left-wing politics down all our throats…(all while demo’ing a piece of gear, no less), I wanted to make sure they got a friendly hello from us conservatives (i.e. law-abiding, people who simply love our country’s culture and freedoms), who remember what music used to be about.* Perhaps, the laugh is on us though, because, to my disgust, I also have to acknowledge that Trump being back in power will help all you hypocritical, fascist, nihilists, globalists as much as it will help Americans, now that people will have more money, and more security (job, and otherwise) to buy, and enjoy, music gear. I’ll end this on a kind note and say that I hope the past 8yrs has given all the usual offenders time to unf—k their hypocritical, ignorant, political views, and re-examine what music was supposed to be about in the first place.

It took 7yrs, and 60million lives to defeat the last fascist, dictatorship that tried to force their beliefs on the rest of the world. I just assume not see it come back with the music industry in tow, simply because weak, broken musicians activists, don’t have the ability to critically think for themselves, or know right vs wrong. But, alas!!! What was this video about again?

"comparing it to a quad cortex is just stupid"

It's not stupid, and here's why.

First, if the market wanted a smaller cheaper quad cortex, and you put out a product that seems like it should be what you're asking for, you're gonna make that comparison. It seems like people wanted a smaller cheaper quadcortex, I know that's what I'm interested in and as soon as I found out that it isn't just a small quadcortex I tuned out quick.

Second, the biggest reason the comparisons are made is a due to a marketing error. How does calling your product "nano"cortex not imply at least subconsciously that it is a small quadcortex. Neuraldsp is inviting the comparisons with that naming and the design of the product. Is it fair that this is what happens? Maybe not, but that's how our brains work and companies have been purposely exploiting our brains in this way to convince us to buy shit for a long time, there's no chance this was an accident. Stupid from the marketing team? Yes, but not an accident.

So, not for me.
