to anyone wondering about english subs:

I was able to get English subs by using the auto translate subtitles to translate the Russian subs to English (Russian >> English), just clicking around in the subtitles options tab, found by clicking the cog in the bottom right-hand corner; might not work for everyone and there's most likely a better way but it worked for me
