The oil shows you need to get a rocker cover gasket kit. It includes gaskets around the coil packs and PCV.
ОтветитьI have a 2014 XR6 (EcoLpi) with 76K, and get a few missfires. I installed new plugs and coils but no luck in my case. I will clean the throttle body next followed by checking intake manifold. I use Forscan app to read Total Missfire Recorded. Missfire only ever happens with cold engine, and only when in drive or reverse. I do not get any engine warning lights or error codes.
ОтветитьIf your running more boost than stock they recommend setting plug gaps to .6 or 7mm.
ОтветитьShould also put the oil cap back on while working on it as I have dropped a bolt down there once
Ответитьi also love getting an easy insertion first time around. saves time and money i found :P
ОтветитьDo N/A Barras and Turbocharged Barras both use the same coil packs and spark plugs?
Ответитьyou should have check the plug gaps with a gauge; never assume they're gapped correctly out of the box.
ОтветитьHey Sean, just wondering what gopro you are using?
ОтветитьMy FPV Typhoon F6 number123 , had oil in the first two plug galleys . It was from the VCT Actuators leaking slightly. I have now fitted a delete kit and vernier cam gears from Atomic Performance. Engine response is much improved. My car is one of only two here in UK.
I found a 6 inch extension with universal joint gets rear plug fine.
Keep up with the Barra thing. I love mine.
You forgot the dielectric grease for the coil boots and plugs.
ОтветитьFor smooth running use Lucas injector cleaner or Royal purple Max clean
ОтветитьWhilst I have had a couple of coil packs fail over the years on my BA XR6, the problem I had the most difficulty diagnosing was a failed inlet manifold gasket creating a vacuum leak. Similar symptoms to a failed coil but harder to isolate.
ОтветитьNumber 6 sparkplug removal, you need to use a universal joint on ratchet
ОтветитьLucky you didn't put that bolt into the oil vent
ОтветитьThe oil came from the 2 cam plugs
ОтветитьHi mate. Just found your channel. Absolutely love it. I found this super helpful
ОтветитьTo make your turbo barra run well always use 98 or higher octane fuel works a treat and you will notice the difference at idle and on acceleration..john...Willaura😎
ОтветитьI had same issue basically happen on my 2007 BF2 Fairmont Ghia for the last 2mths .
On mine while driving the speedo needle would drop to zero, the ABS, Stability control an Brake system fault (!) Would light up. Pull over turn off engine restart all good for a while . Could be an hour could be a few days before it did it again.
Anyway today got the same repair done above you did . New spark plugs an coils. ( got all genuine Ford parts Urideium Spark plugs). Car is DEFINITELY smoother when accelerating. Quiter when idling also. Did a good 50km test drive.
A interesting fact to I have done 234,000km on the Original spark plugs. I was told they should have been changed at 100,000km. I was never told that . Car has run beautiful for the 14 years I have owned it. So I think that is awesomely impressive 234,000km on the original spark plugs. Maybe as I estimate 70% of its driving or 80% has been Freeway/ Highway speeds is why they lasted so long.
Hight RPM is definitly intake gasket problem. Vacum smoke detector can find this problem. If you don't have smoke machine disconect brake boster from intake and buy cigaros and push smoke in. Make sure put ruber glove on trotle body and you will find Vacum leakage.
ОтветитьGood Vid , watched while doing my coils for the first time...Jumped ahead a few times then came back to watch vid to make sure I didn't miss anything.... Two things... One .. Why are you running red coolant when Ba Turbo's came out with Green? (Preference?) And Two thought I would mention as I did my coils I noticed noticed the first coil lead at the front had some wear from rubbing . So might be a good idea to inspect all wiring for wear.....
Ответитьits recommend when putting in the coil packs that you grease the springs on them
ОтветитьThe spark plug gap for a ba bf turbo engine is 0.9+-0.05 it's in the maintenance manual that come with my bf turbo model and the genuine part number of the ford spark plugs is AGSP22YE09 long life iridium
ОтветитьWas your car popping out of the exhaust at idle matey
ОтветитьThat oil can get to that spot if someone spills a bit while filling the oil filler (common), and the gasket is not in perfect position. I am pretty sure that is the explanation. I can get the last spark plug out using a short extension and the bendable knuckle extension from a very similar Stanley tool kit. I am not a mechanic, but have owned a few falcons.
ОтветитьThanks for your detailed and informative DIY video! I've seen a few other videos where they'll just pull a couple of the front plugs and then just jump to the end when they're all out and then make an off-the-cuff comment like "gee that last one was a bastard to get out alright" however not give the viewer any insights as to how they actually achieved the task (ie, your trick using the 2x short extensions). Will be changing the plugs & coilpacks on my BA ute next week. Cheers!
ОтветитьDude you had me like put the oil cap back on after taking off the cover and before you start working on the coils, before something maybe a nut makes it into your engine which could of easily happened when you turned over the cover and the 2 nuts fell, live and learn hey.
Ответить20nm torque for spark plugs
ОтветитьMy sisters BA turbo had idling issues and after replacing coil paks and plugs.
I replaced the engine mounts and it idled perfectly.
The engine mount near the turbo was totally stuffed from the heat.
Her car had 200 thousand KMS at the time.
Good content and information cheers mate 👍 I've owned a ba Fairmont and a xr6t 05 and similar problems though your info on yours has helped alot cheers again mate 👍 👏
ОтветитьIt could be a blocked cat
ОтветитьGood job…!!
I have similar concerns and have been looking at videos on how to test coil packs with a multimeter…… might be useful content in a future video….
Hey all this rarely occurs but when I start my my car it sometimes shakes while it is in park then when I I put it in reverse or drive it still shakes while driving then it smooths out and stops. Not sure what the issue is I haven’t changed spark plugs since i bought the car at 200000km not sure if this could be the issue
ОтветитьI love your videos mate. Well done.
ОтветитьI just scored a mint 2003 Fairmont Ghia so will be watching your awesome channel intensely. I got a new socket set as well and don't know stuff all about motors but I'm looking forward to maintaining as much of it myself as I can. I love the car too. Beautiful to drive. I reckon the sound system sounds great too. I was abit concerned because of some comments Ive read on various forums.
ОтветитьI have been having problem similar to this on non turbo territory misfires on cylinder 3 only when cold once warm it goes away, it throws DSC light on and when u cycle the key it seems fine , problem is not coils or plugs, no noticeable vacuum leak, compression is good now suspecting injector. Ordered new OEM ones once changed I will update if it fixed the fault
ОтветитьWatch me throw money at things?
ОтветитьJust fixed a rough idle and a misfire in my EL Falcon. After asking around everywhere about injector replacement/cleaning and cleaning plugs and checking plug leads It ended up being a crack in the inlet manifold Gasket. A Quick test to check for air leaks is to spray some Parts cleaner along the manifold gasket, if it makes the engine idle worse you have an Air leak.
ОтветитьLooks like you will have later aditional work to do.Rock cover gasket set cheap from ebay $50 don't last longer from my expiriance rubber get hardening from temperature. Looks like VCT valve gasket coursing leakage on clynder 1 and 2 ,because leakage is present only on top.I have solved my common problem like yours with purchase in ford 6 sparak plug gaskets and 2 VCT gaskets which coast over $100 ,but main rock cover gasket can be aftemarket. For sure this coursing misfire and vacum leakage can be another isu.If RPM is hight than usual in NEUTRAL warm engine around 750 to 800 definitly vacum leakage is isue.Japanise Iridium splark plugs is good and they can go 100 thousand km witouth problem and Turbo gap is1.1mm.
ОтветитьFor the last plug you just need to use a 3/4 length and pop the spark plug bit out onto the swivel part of the connector.
Ответитьa trick i got taught was to always tape the sparkplug socket to extension best trick i found
ОтветитьHi, Have you got any videos on ECU PCM failures, as it seems my XR6 T has a problem inside PCM thats cutting power off No.2 and 4 fuel injectors after 5 seconds after startup and all the coils/spark plugs and fuel injectors have been checked and all good, have you got any PCM laying around. Thanks
ОтветитьUniversal joint for the win. That was terrifying 😂
ОтветитьIdle is too high.
ОтветитьBA = constantly breaking down. Awful model. If it can fail, it will.
ОтветитьThat’s cool genuine ford coil packs don’t think you can get them anymore.. all your plugs looked to be all the same colour which is good but they look to be on the white side of things there maybe a vacuum leak or manifold leak I always clean and replace the rocker cover gasket everytime I do this service
ОтветитьGreater video, I think the Alloytec is probably the worst engine to work on. Thermostat is horrible, have to pull the manifold to get to the plugs. Timing chains are a joke, no tourqe and a clapped out Hyundai bet me. I like these barras so I got a turbo Fg. Mechanic at work said soon as you see a low klm one grab it. Will run forever.
ОтветитьSean my au, intake manifold.
ОтветитьJust wanted to check if Ford Falcon has EGR. I have come across so many videos about EGR cleaning but never saw that in Ford Falcon videos.
