The True Story of Jesse James 1957 HD

Superbly made production, feels & looks authentic to the times, with as much accuracy as was known by historians in the 1950's, most of it still holding true today, in my opinion. Wagner very good as James, with able support from Hunter as Jesse's brother Frank. Good supporting cast of familiar faces from that era. The bank & train robberies aren't belabored, the final, climactic one, though, the raid on the bank in Northfield, Minn., is filmed especially well with exquisite detail. Good acting throughout by all the principals, including Agnes Moorehead & Hope Lange, the movie emphasizes interpersonal relationships & motivations behind Jesse's chosen path at various turns of his life. Clearly a superior western of its era, sharply restored with excellent audio & imagery.

Good believable story, too bad he had to die in a way he didn't deserve.
