One interesting thing about Singapore’s geography is that no matter how strong their defences are, in a conventional geographically doomed due to size if it comes down to a war of attrition. Singapore’s battle plan against a foreign invader will either come down to using Malaysia and Indonesia as meat shields and relying on Singapore’s superior air force to defeat any foreign foe, or if got forbid Malaysia or Indonesia invades, quickly deploy and destroy any ground and air assets the power around them may have and establish a foothold in their countries by rapidly deploying its marines and creating a buffer zone.

The formation of ASEAN was not only to foster economic relations and ties but also some defence agreements for the entire region.
